I think it's an illness.
I just ordered a Condor II and two mini rolypolys, plus a Proteus versipack from Maxpedition. The Proteus is for carrying my monocular, camera, wallet, keys and miscellaneous supplies on these little 2 - 3 hour training hikes that I do in the hills around my house.
The Condor II is for full-day hikes and the odd over-nighter when the weather is mild and I don't need to take a bunch of bulky gear with me. The Condor II also gets to live in my truck as a BOB for if I get stuck somewhere and have to hike to somewhere else.
I have a Northface Recon backpack that I used to use for day hikes and a BOB, but then I started using it as a gym bag and, frankly, it got a little funky. So now the Northface bag is a full-time gym backpack and the Condor II will get used for poking around in BLM/NP lands.
Man, do I ever own a lot of Maxpedition stuff:
- Jumbo versipack (never really used this one as it never seemed to ride right on me)
- Collosus versipack (got it as a road tripping bag, used it a few times, then decided it was a awkward for what I was trying to do with it. My Lunada and Condor/Proteus now replace this bag.)
- Remora gearslinger (I carried this for a couple of years as an EDC bag until I got an Amazon Kindle -- which actually does fit into the Remora, but it's a tight squeeze. Great little bag, though.)
- Lunada gearslinger (my current EDC bag)
- Doppelduffel (my weekender and car camping bag)
One of these days I'm going to have to sell the stuff I'm not using.
But the good news is, I'm sure this is the last Maxpedition purchase that I'll ever have to make ...
(I can quit anytime!
