I am new to the diamond micron sprays/slurries and I want to learn more?

I want to buy some diamond micron spray for my knife I just don't know what I'm doing. I know the balsa wood strops work best with these sprays. so I just need help deciding what micron number I should buy. That's it. And when to use it? After I sharpen my knife? Or to touch up my knife? Does anyone know?? Thanks
