I think the issue might be “open” carry. Not sure the OP mentioned anything about carrying visibly. Here in CA for example, you can carry any sized folder concealed whereas a fixed blade must be visible. So, a folder that is locked open in a sheath allows me to carry anything and any size I want (double edged daggers excluded). Makes a certain kind of sense.
I think this is incorrect. CA dirk and dagger wording includes locked open folders.

I am also in California. It is also illegal in this state to carry a folding knife concealed in the open and locked position. California law specifically refers to open and locked folding knives in the statute defining "dirks & daggers" (CA pc 16470). An open folding knife with the blade in the locked position capable of being used as a "stabbing weapon" is defined in California law as a "dirk or dagger".

A link to CA pc 16470, California's definition of "dirks & daggers".

And 21310, the statute prohibiting the concealed carry of "dirks & daggers".

But the OP didn't say where he is located, that's why I asked.

I just looked it up and you’re right! The folder must be folded. Learn something new every day

Note also that Buck made a fixed blade version of the 110, the Buck 101. So it will be easy to find a sheath to carry the 110 open.

Mi doesn't seem to have the no locked open issue
I just want to throw this out there. You could get a push dagger. It's an excellent tool for people with bad hands and no knife fighting experience. It has a grippy krayton handle. Pulls out of it's sheath a split second. And is used by police officers as a secondary backup weapon . When I got my first one I wasn't happy with it too much. I didn't give it enough time to appreciate what it did and what it was. I've had hand problems too. But I don't have hand problems anymore because they cut one off. If it works for a one-handed man it should work for you. Of course this is all conjecture. Something to look into for sure, I've been using the Dickens out of mine.(Cold steel) Whatever you decide I hope you are happy with your decision. With all of the data that I have discovered I believe this would probably be your best bet, Cold steel sells quite a few different models of a push dagger I'm sure they'll have something that will satisfy you. Sometimes I open carry it and sometimes I use it concealed. this particular model is a four and a half inch blade. this is just food for thought. this is obviously double edged. But they make single edge models as well. as far as strength it's pretty strong and tough. I don't think it could be broken unless it's broken on purpose. PS in my jurisdiction if you are disabled or defenseless you can carry whatever you want whenever you want. At least Puerto Rico recognized that disabled people often fall victim to crime. The 2020 weapons act has alleviated this problem.View attachment 2384577

the monashee and AD10 are the only ones on that group I feel have a grip the way I meant. Both are over 3.5" the Monashee I could shorten down easily but I can't find it in stock.

If you can deal with a 3" blade, the Cold Steel Verdict mentioned above has a handle that's pretty close which can come with g10 scales - so you could file in more/deeper grooves - and it has the triad lock which is very strong. (Note: the poly-handled CS knives are often skeletonized, so grinding new grooves wouldn't work out well).

The SR1 has a 4" blade, which you could grind shorter, and also g10 construction, but the handle is about 5.5" and you can't really shorten that too easily. Same with the AD10, which costs a bunch more.
