If your survival was on the line, which two???

I guess it would depend on where I was going to be. The urban needs are likely to be very different than wilderness needs.

In Town:
Benchmade Skirmish as it’s a beefy and imposing looking especially for a folder.
Bill Siegle spear point combat I bought from him a couple years ago. The bloody thing's built like a tank.

Out of Town:
RTAK for it's chopping abilities (shelter building).
Helle-Eggen or a Mora for smaller camp chores.

I'm assuming all this to be above and beyond what I'm wearing at any given moment as well.

I'm ressurecting this thread for 2 reasons:
1. It was fun.
2. To see if opinions have changed.

I'd still grab my SWICK, but I think the Becker Brute's recurve blade would be a hassel to sharpen in a survival situation. For a fixed blade, I'd say a Fallkniven A2.

I'll play along as I've been thinking of putting together a little kit for for the possibility of just such occation. -If I had my way I'd have something made by Busse and a SMF. As I sit right now I'd have to go for an 806 and either a ontario spec plus combat knife or a s+w bushhog (kukri) depending on the situation at hand.

------------------------------
BRKT all the way.
Settler and IMP.
If you're gonna force me to make one of them a folder, then I'd leave the IMP and bring my Buck 110.
------------------------------

Originally, those ^^^ were my choices. Upon further reflection, however, I've changed my mind.

Bark River Settler - useful for shelter building, game cleaning, eating & food preparation, fire making, general utility.

John Ek designed Commando #2, also produced by Bark River - hunting tool for procuring game if necessary, generally just making up for my personal lack of sharp fangs & claws. Big, long, pointy blade (not terrible for utility work either, so it's sort of a double-duty tool). Also great for removing splinters. :D

Swamp Rat Battle Rat (until my Busse Fusion Battle Mistress LE gets here:D )

and my Busse Satin Jack Tac (I would like the smaller one to be a Busse Straight Handled Badger Attack)

for me it would be by kershaw outkast and either my leatherman or gerber multi tool.
If multi tools weren't an option it would then be a 4 inch fixed blade I have (it has no name on it and is of the Mears type survival knife, carbon blade and I have used it for over 25 years now)

You likin' that Settler? Used it much yet? I've had one for a few weeks now, and haven't used it yet. Tryin' to decide whether I wanna play with the 12C27 when I'm out in the boonies. Really nice handle though, and the perfect size for general woodsloafing.

Reeve Shadow 4 and a Swiss tool.

My selections are very close to Helle's:
  • CRK Shadow I -- in the hollow handle, there'w water proof matches, fishing line/hooks, $50 bill, safety pins, and a straight pin
  • Vic SwissTool

That's a tough one. Either my CRK Green Beret or Mountain II and a smaller Dozier, both fixed blades.

I'm ressurecting this thread QUOTE]

Can I get an AMEN BROTHER!! Oh, not that kind of resurrection. Well, then, I guess my choices would be my Classic SAK and my short sword. The SAK to keep my teeth picked and my nails clean. The short sword for myself if I lose the SAK. Couldn't live with dirty nails. Hygiene or nothing!

Sorry, couldn't help myself. ;)

Of what I have RD9, and Manix.

Since the Busse BMs are currently "available", the RD9 is about to be replaced by a Fusion BM.

Out of what I have now- A Busse FSH and a Bark River NorthStar. Realistically, if I was already out in the woods, it would probably be my Fehrman PeaceMaker and either my Native III or my Ritter Grip.

Marble's Trailmaker and Dozier Pro Guide.

OR

HI Ang Khola Khuk and Dozier lg Elk Hunter

OR

CRK Nkonka and Manix

Narrowing it down to just one pair is asking too much of me. :p :D

Okay, after mulling over this for awhile I believe I'd best be served by the Trailmaker and the Dozier Pro Guide. That covers the bases rather handily because this combo pairs a hefty chopper and a smaller more versatile knife capable of handling the around-the-camp type of chores.

It's a tough one.

It have to be my Busse Basic #5 and #7 fixed blades.......with a Sebenza in the pocket of the #7 sheath!
