I'm the smartest one in the room - the non-shop, non-business sub forum chat thread

That is wild. Not a clue how that could be a financial success unless hardly anyone ever sends them back. I'm on their website now and while they are more expensive than the usual Ballston or Minus33 socks I currently buy it's hard to argue with a sock that is constantly reborn fresh again from the mail box.

I get them from GovX website. It’s a little cheaper. Their socks are made in Vermont. I have summer, med hikers, and full cushion. They are all holding up great. Like I said I am a mailman and easily get 10 miles in a day walking my route. I wear Oboz and Keen hiking boots with DT socks.

I've used GovX years ago but only once. My time is split between a wharf deck and a desk with a whole bunch of stairs between. I keep my Keen safety toes close, best boots I've worn so far even over Red Wings.

Been watching a lot of Police bodycam videos lately. The Midwest Safety channel is the one I've been watching most, because they don't do what I call "spaghetti editing". That's where a channel takes a bunch of footage, then shows parts out of chronological order with narration, like mini previews and explanations of of what's to come, before showing an extended version of the clip they previewed without narration, and with some kind of ambient soundtrack for increased tension. It seems like a contrived way of adding some kind of appeal, but in the end to me it just feels redundant and like it kinda insults the viewer as though we understand what we're are watching as it progresses, and also tries to turn what (in my opinion) should be a cautionary lesson into some kind of dog and pony show. I get that they want clicks, but Midwest safety seems to be able to show these gritty realities in a manner that respects both the officers involved in the incidents and demonstrates compassion for the victims, and even as much compassion as possible and appropriate for criminals who made mistakes, without ever justifying what they have done. And they still manage to have over a million channel subs.

When I was younger, I bought into a lot of the "us vs them" propaganda that has been common in mainstream media regarding citizens and police. Watching these videos more and more over the past decade, though, has affirmed for me that not only has that stereotype been largely contrived, but that law enforcement agencies around the world are overwhelmingly professional, and even increasingly so as time goes on, even if there are some haven't always lived up to those standards.

I have consumed a number of untepid nonsolids. It’s not a common occurrence. But it occurred.

From a Youtube video called "If fighting police were a sport".... This part literally made me burst out laughing. I'm sure the marking on the door was actually a letter followed by a number, but come on this is too hilarious. I bet that's why the cop chose that garage.

Posting in my sub forum so as not to go too off topic in the original thread.

David,
Elvis Presley would be proud if he had that knife.. He lived on peanut butter and banana sandwiches, so you would have a life long customer. Oh wait, he passed back in 1977, Oh well, keep them coming who knows someone else with fame and fortune will buy

Peanut butter and banana sandwiches are great. Assuming natural peanut butter. When I was younger I ate PB&B and PB&J with the seemingly more common sugary peanut butter, and when I eventually tried the just peanuts kind I thought it was bland and unappetizing. Fast forward after whenever I decided to take healthy eating a little bit more seriously, and now whenever I try one of those sugary peanut butters again, I find them way too rich and they don't sit well in belly.

Were it not for my having *mostly* quit bread I would probably still eat PB&etc. sandwiches to this day, but I already eat too much, and all bread does is make me want to eat MORE.

All that said, whenever I do eat or spread peanut butter, it's with a spoon, as I find that easier than using a butter knife. I actually quit using butter knives altogether long enough ago now that I don't remember the last time I did.

Come spring and summer, I am going to want to go outside to play with my bigger kettlebells, so depending on how that goes, I may just bring PB&al. back for the season.

Home made peanut butter... I only recently tried this. I didn't know you could get a cheap food processor, pour in roasted peanuts, set it on high, wait, peanut dust... something's not working... poof... it's peanut butter. It was such an odd experience. But I do admit to being lazy and just buying store bought low sodium roasted peanuts and making it. But I do agree once you make it then it's hard to go back to buying a jar from the store. Then I really messed up and made almond butter.
