Found a Barlow ( cheap and in rough shape ) The larger blade is stamped with the crown on top , then "Imperial" and below that is "Ireland"

Just checking to make sure it's just a cheap piece of junk worth what I paid for it ( free )
or
If there is any history to that stamp on the blade ???

Thanks in advance , been a while since I visted here .

Have one myself and indeed they are cheap. I do have a few Imperials that are made in the US and they are well made knives. There has been posts about the history of the Imperials and their move to Ireland.

Try doing a search forum for threads that reference Imperial Ireland. I think I saw one time that the name was bought and moved to Ireland. Someone with more knowledge will be along.

Ok , Thanks !! I figgured as much . The scales and metal caps all move LOl . I'll see if I can clean it a bit , put an edge on it , tighten the rivits , and have a free knife worth what I paid for it !!

dug out a couple usa made Imperials and can see the loss of quality in the Ireland marked one .
