Hey folks, I hope this finds everybody well. Here are some pics of recent woodworking projects I’ve been on. All 4 have been in process at the same time, so progress has been relatively slow on any given one. But they’re wrapping up now – just in time for Blade show! – and that feels pretty good. Not as good as finishing a batch of knives every week, that definitely feels better. But making cool stuff is making cool stuff….

These first 3 pieces are for a pantry in a fancy pants house – all made out of old growth, reclaimed heart pine.

This guy is the main focal point, and will be mounted on the wall at about chest height. The doors slide and have glass in there (although not in the photo). There will be wainscoting in the back and 3 shelves. It’s about 60” tall and 80” wide. Would make a better gun cabinet than storage if you ask me…

This buffet will sit under it. The trim on the bottom is in process. Mahogany top and base trim, everything else is pine.

The whole set will be stained like the inside of the door here -

This tall boy will hide next to the cabinet/buffet in a little nook in the room. Not fancy, but functional –

The beginning of the trim on the buffet -

Making the legs on the buffet was the best challenge so far. Most of the initial cuts were made on the table saw, but I wasn’t sure how to do the curve. I ended up free handing it on the jointer, just taking one miniscule pass at a time. It was some very rewarding craftsmanship I have to say. In the photo they are a bit off from one another, which I cleaned up the following morning.

This is a completely separate piece for a different client. Not nearly as fancy, but big at almost 90” x 90”. On the bottom left of the cabinet is a hidden TV on a lift – so it comes up when you want it and disappears when you don’t. Painted w/ a primer as it’ll get painted to match the rest of the house once it’s installed.

And here’s the base a little further along –

Beautiful work Ken! That's quite a shop. I wonder what's hidden in all the little drawers of the bench-top cabinet.

Beautiful pieces Ken! You have more sanding and finish work to do there than six months worth of knives. I hope that you will post pictures of the finished products.

I look forward to seeing you on Friday.

Beautiful work Ken! Makes my heart miss doing cabinets and trim. My back and knees not so much, but definitely my heart.
