Latest Update

I am off for vacation tomorrow, well it actually started today. I am going to goto Talladega Alabama for the NASCAR Race. Only a 15 hour drive, but well worth it. Anybody else going?

I will post another update next week after I get her heat treated and ground.

Later.

Damn it, I couldn't take it! I had to know what that pattern was going to look like. There was no way I would have been able to get it out of my mind while I was on vacation.

This is my first attempt at a Persian Twist, and after almost 12 hours in the making, I needed to get an idea of how it is going to look.

See the picture below for a test etch i just did on the blade. I am almost afraid to grind it now, maybe the grind will ruin the pattern.  :D :D

It's beautiful man. But just remember, until you grind it, or do something with it, it's just a piece of steel. THough a darn pretty one.

But the joy of knife making is taking a piece of steel(or a whole bunch of them like you did there), and shape and form them into something completely different than the plain piece of steel they started out as. Don't stop halfway along tghat path.

And enough of the philosophical BS. Looks great, can't wait to see the final blade.

Man O Man Thats came out soo gooood! Grind er! She wont grind away the pattern. It will look even better. Thanks for the update.

Man that looks GREAT! I was up till 11:30 last night pouring the pad for the hammer I just bought. Now I realy cant wait to get it up and running and try my hand at Damascus.

Just when I thought I was getting somewhere you had to show me that.

Its the old story you don't know what you don't know untill you see it.

I will have to get busy my friend will be wanting his rolling mill back soon he has shifted house just waiting for a shed.

Great work keep it up and keep showing us. It is giving me ideas.

Man that is a cool pattern, now you got me to thinking of trying something like that. Just too cool!
