For those of you who like and use Inova flashlights, they're updating the emitters in the T series lights. For those of you on the fence about getting one, I'd suggest holding out until the update is complete. For those of you unfamiliar with Inova, they're an American flashlight company which produces very solid and well priced LED flashlights.

*Edit* The representative for BugOut Gear jumped the gun a bit when he said Inova would be using Cree emitters. They will be using new Luxeon emitters, though the stated specs are the same.

I would love for an American company to blow fenix out of the water(my favorite light but made in China). Cant wait. Good news.

Good to know. I've been thinking about picking up another T3 (or 5). Can never decide whether to keep the one I have in the house or the truck.

Any idea what the update involves? One of the new/better LED's like the rebel? Still going to have the same great balance of output and runtime?

inovas are pretty good lights, i dont think they are surefires equal but for the $$ they are pretty good.

as far as a hand held tac lite inova already blows fenix outta the water imho( i dont think any fenix is very good in this respect), utility lights?? another story lol.

Any links to manf. website, specs or retail outlets?

CPF'ers,

You heard it here first...

Inova is going Cree for 2008!

Here is the breakdown. This is all the info we have at the moment. If you want to reserve one let us know here. Release date is 2/1/08. We will be one of the first to receive shipment.

The T1-MP 100 lumen light output for 5 hours

The T2-MP 125 lumen light output for 4 hours

The T3-MP 150 lumen for 3.5 hours

The T4-MP 175 lumens for 2 hours with High, Low and Strobe

The T5-MP 200 lumen for 3 hours with High, Low and Strobe

I don't have retail pricing yet, but there would be a CPF promo price as usual. If there is enough demand we will start a pre-order.

Regards,
Flavio

FWIW - contrary to the post I quoted above, there seems to be contradicting rumors on which new LED will be in the new Inovas, but there is at least agreement that it will be an LED upgrade.

Man, and I just bought a T3 about a month ago. Wonder if they can be retrofitted? Guess we'll see next year.

I just ordered a 2008 T4 to use as a dutylight. I'll be replacing my Stinger LED. I have heard the latest model T4s are pretty nice. The only complaint I've heard is the lack of real water resistance.

Here is one review of the T4:

Hopefully it's not like the 3rd gen X1 update - something like an extra 10% output, with cutting runtime in half.

I know what you mean, Wintermute, but don't worry. The new Inova T lights blow the old ones out of the water in both output and runtime.

I am not very savvy when it comes to inova's lineup, is there anything coming down the pipe that will give Fenix L2D Q5 a run for its money (in terms of power, AA, cost)?

I am a big Fenix fanboy myself, but would love a solid American made AA light.

I've been using this one lately the double lens is really bright.

My T4 got here yesterday. My initial impressions are very good. Fit and finish are excellent. It produces much more light than my Stinger LED (first generation). The quality of light is also much better. The color is better and the beam is better. The switch is a little different than I'm used to with the Stinger, but it is easy to master. I like the fact that the switch is lower on the light than that of the stinger. The stingers switch would often activate the light when I was sitting in the car. The T4's switch location should prevent that. I also like the size of the T4. It is a little smaller than the Stinger. The Pelican 7060, in my opinion, really pushes the limits of belt carry. I go back to work in a few days. I'll compare the beam to the 7060 then.

SF all the way. I'm sorry, but it just can't be beat. It's on the pricey side, I'll give them that, but they stand behind their products 100%. That and the runtimes (IMO) given for the Inova's are a little plump. Runtimes should be in terms of how long it can sustain that level of output, and I seriously doubt that's it's driving a single LED at 100L for 5 hours. Probably more like 45 minutes before you start dropping lumens off.
