Hey guys, this is some new stock I cut up.

First we have desert ironwood, dry at least 35 years. A few of these blocks have some small cracks, but these can mostly be filled with some super glue

Next Is going to be Mexican Kingwood, an amazing rosewood that works a lot like cocobolo but with a very distinct purple tone in it. This stuff is strong as hell and polishes like glass. If you finish it with oil, it darkens to a deep, midnight purple black tone that looks STUNNING.

I have some very old African blackwood, which is getting very difficult to find

And some big blocks of macassar ebony, always lovely to use.

And lastly we have cocobolo. I have wood from 3 different logs here, with blocks 4-6 being my AMAZING marbled cocobolo. There is really nothing else like it on the market.

I get more eyebrow raises from kingwood, moreso than any burls or ironwood I've used. People seem to really like it. And it smells a lot better when working it, too. Nice stuff man.

Im a huge fan of kingwood. It works like cocobolo, but is tougher than ironwood. Its bright purple with a great grain, takes a glass level polish and smells lovely!

Take it up to 1200 grit and throw a coat of danish oil on it and it knocks the light purple down to nicely toned light brownish hue with some pretty decent metallic shine mixed with the figured black. It's nice. It's probably my favorite right now.

Yea. Oil will darken it up a lot, it brings it almost to a purplish black, very similar to what you might find in African Blackwood.
