Minnesota's switchblade definition is extremely vague and lacks the defining language of nearly every other state that normally makes assisted opening knives legal. Case law on the matter was similarly unhelpful and have at one time concluded a utility knife with spring action to be a switchblade. AKTI's legal team determined the vagueness makes the risk too great to consider carrying one.
There are no laws at the state level restricting pepper spray, however. It is still a crime to use it unlawfully on another person as a form of harassment. https://www.revisor.mn.gov/statutes/cite/624.732
