Isn't it time for a 700 thread?

I was killing time looking at 701 knives on eBay last week and noticed some major changes over the years. So before I came here and started babbling like an idiot, I did some searching. (And yes the spey and sheepsfoot blades did swap ends about 1986.) In the process I found the some of you have some pretty good collections of the 700 line of knives. I like the 700 line knives, they seem a bit more refined than the 300 line. But I don't want to resurrect 10 year old threads. So lets see some 700 knife pictures.

Here are my few. Nothing fancy just users. This first one is my most recent. A two backspring 703. Except for the missing shield it looks barely used. I'm sure it still had the factory edge.

A picture of the two together. It's interesting that the two spring is actually thicker than the three spring.

I bought a 703 way back when I started collecting Buck Knives with the intention of getting the entire set. I found I just didn’t warm up to the 700 series - very well built, excellent fit and finish - just not my cup of tea it seems. This one has stayed virtually new for a long time now. OH

I just won a 3 Buck listing on the bay and one will be my first 700 series a 709 with the old English script..I bid manly for the 501 since it was on my want list if I could find one reasonably priced. There was a 484 too that will donate it's blade for a 112 sometime this fall..

I couldn't pass it up..NIB 501 and 484 but the 709 is a little beat up..Under $30.00 shipped.

I had not noticed the 700 series until I became a member here in 2018. They look nice and I’d like to get one in hand to check it out. Are they more chunky and heavier than the 300 series? I’ve never seen one in the flesh only pictures.

It depends :p
The 705 is teeny, tiny, little knife. The 709 is basically the same size as a 309. The 704 doesn't really have a 300 counterpart and is probably my favorite of the 700 series. Its close to being a single blade 303. The 703 is close to the 303, but the handles are taller so it feels chunkier to me. The 701 is about the same thickness as the 301, shorter in length, but taller in the handles. Despite being shorter the 701 definitely feels like a bigger knife to me than the 301. Its a chunk o' pocket knife.

The 700's seem to have stronger springs than the 300 series I have. Especially the 701. Its got some snap.
Photos. I threw the peanut in for comparison. Plus its kind of pretty ;)
