It followed me home (Part 2)

Nobody would let me buy it, too close to Christmas. "STOP BUYING STUFF, WE'RE RUNNING OUT OF GIFT IDEAS"

Plus I'm pretty strapped for cash

Spent $18 on these today at a flea market. I needed a good starting wedge for splitting logs. The axe is solid and looks to be ready to use. I think it's a Van Camp

That's a felling wedge. I guess it would make a decent starter wedge. Or you could just change the edge shape of your splitting wedges.

The top wedge (felling wedge) is a great score, I have not come across that around here
The AX is really sweet, I love the head pattern, it looks like it is well balanced for smooth swings.

This morning's haul was $245, but $100 of that was the Wilton bullet vise.

I like that top AX just to the right of the Wilton(which is wicked).
That's a great DB as well...really once again, you scored many a great item!
Is that an Underhill hatchet head lower right?

Most of the trees that I cut are already fallen over. I'd get more use out of it as a starter wedge when I split osage logs. I've been using a couple rough axe heads to start the splits.

Thanks for the info.

There is considerable wear on the blade of this baby but there is the possibility of the poll being hardened, judging by the prominent chip out of it.

A saw from the recycling center. The metal handle is securely attached. I don't know if it was a waste of $5 but I think the teeth look OK if I can get the rust off...

all this talk about saws, i saw one of the big old style ripsaws at a cracker barrel. just hanging by 1 woodscrew and leaning on the window sill. and of course my chair was under that death trap
