It's a sad sad day. My wife has finally cut me off from buying any more knives. She said once she couldn't count them all on both hands I was done. I actually have 11 but she missed one. As a act of rebellion I bought a BM 555S and had it shipped to work. I'll have to sneak it home and tell her that I've had it for years.

I'm sure everyone has a similar story about being cut off, so lets hear them.

My wife limited me to 1 knife a week. So now I am doing a hell of allot of trading, or at least that’s how I explain all these new knives. This is a benefit of having a decent sized collection, she can never tell what’s gone and what I have had forever

There's my money, her money, and our money. My money buys whatever I want, and when it's gone, it's gone. Ditto for her money, except of course her money pays for her stuff.

"Our money" buys the gotta have it stuff, so I'm not buying knives with the grocery money.

My wife knows I have A LOT of knives, but it's not an issue because...it's my money.

Give it a shot. Good luck!

:D

My wife limited me to 1 knife a week.

Well, not to nitpick but that's not much of a limitation.

"Dear, I know I had 748 knives last week, is it ok if I just round up to 750 before Friday?"

:p

Not a problem here. I can buy all the knives I want but I have to limit myself to one wife! Has worked out OK for about 30 years.

:D

My wife recently decided that my CRKT KFF large pro is now hers. She started using that knife multiple times a day because I left it lying around and now it is hers. She loves the Leatherman Micra that I bought her for her key chain. Now she is showing interest in other knives and even recognizes different styles of knives! :D

My girlfriend loves to play with some of my knives. At first she didn't understand it, but after being with me she knows different companies and knows which brands are good. she even pre-ordered me a CRKT First Strike for my birthday.

My name is Glenn, and I'm a knifeaholic...

My wife doesn't know about my habit. I even got a separate credit card so she won't see the charges from paypal. Luckily, she has never seen my collection, so she has no way of knowing how many I have.:D Every now and then, I ask her to buy me a new knife roll.

It also helps that I do all the finances. I will cut down...maybe

lol, how does your wife not see you playing with knives? Well since I am not old enough to be married and have kids (well I am but im not that dumb yet) :D BUT my dad and mom sez its cool because im a responsible guy. I try to limit myself but damnit those shiny knives get the best of ya! :D

A collector friend of mine raised an interesting point on this topic...if something happens to you and your wife doesn't know about the true costs of your "habit", what will happen to all of your knives? Will the whole lot of them get dumped on Eb@y for $1??

Hey RL....

Ahhh very interesting,, and I have thought of this as well...

If something happens to me, I have put a plan into action.

I have a very close friend. Jeff Diotte, some of you know him, I believe you do RL...

If something happens to me, Jeff is to help my wife handle my knives, guns and other outdoor stuff....

I told my wife if I die, have a yard sale a big BBQ for all my friends and buy herself a BMW with whats left...:)

It is important to at the very least write this stuff down...

All the knives I buy are for the kid's college fund. Which I promise to sell in 12 years if we need cash to pay for tuition. :p

RL,
All my knives, tools, nudie books, etc., are going to my son. While he may lose, sell, break, or give away some of them, he'll hold onto the bulk of those things, and bring honor to the family name.

BTW, Aniketos, my wife knows I have alot of knives, she just doesn't know how many. I just tell her that I used to keep them in a big briefcase(I know, sacriledge), and that's why I want knife rolls now.

Two words....'Plausible Deniability'

Do like I do, get your wife involved in the hobby. A couple times a year I trade her EDC and get something "cute" for her. Currently she has a little Case lockback with MOP scales..;)

I had that problem until last fall when my wife moved out and filed for divorce all in the same day  Now I can display my favorite knives right in the kitchen instead of the basement and I don't have to worry about those new blades showing up :D

If I ever start dating again my first question to her will be "how do you feel about knives? Lots of them!" ;)

When a box comes for me in the mail my wife always says,"Another knife?" Sometimes I get to say, "No, dear, it's six knives!" I started out with them in a drawer then a locked tacklebox then 2 then 3 then 4 then a floor safe. I got some nice oak display cases for Christmas so I've cleared out some room in the safe and the boxes except I still have to keep the empty knife boxes somewhere. I sporadically clear out the reciepts and add them to my knife list so when I go she might know what to ask for most of them. I can always tell if she's used my knife because she never closes it. I've never sold any of my knives but I have given a couple duplicates as gifts to nephews and brothers-in-law.

I keep any of my overtime to pay for my toys. Since the money generated by my extra work hours is my free time. I use the proceeds as I wish. Now if I have a particularly great O.T. run I have been known to share :D

Daviss...
Sounds like its time for a shoe inventory. She's gotta have more than 10 pairs of shoes!
;)
