IXL Wostenholm stag lockback knives

Nice knives, but I don't think there is any great age to them. Always hard to date Sheffield knives, particularly when you don't have them in-hand, but I would say that they are post-WW2. The pull and stamp are like Wostenholm were using in the 1970's

Nice pair of IXL lockback folders, jblyttle. As Jack stated, yours were made in the 1960s / 1970s era. That model was one of Wostenholm's longest running patterns, and was available at least as early as 1879 and ran up until the company went out of business in 1983. While that variation was basically the same from beginning to end, there were several details that changed over time. Older models (from the 1950s and older) had rat-tailed bolsters and a different shaped lock tab shape. "Flat" styled bolsters appeared on your model around 1960 and the "straight" pulls replaced "match strike" pulls. Blade tang stamps also changed throughout time, and Jack also mentioned the later stamps shown on your models. Genuine stag was actually an option for these later models which normally came with synthetic stag type handles. Although they are later knives, they are both quite nice and the genuine stag is a bonus.
