Anyone know of any cool "blade" destinations in Japan? I'm going to be staying near Tokyo and plan on travelling mainly by train.

I've googled a bit for ideas, but Seki City seems to keep popping up near the top. (I wonder why) :D

One of the most famous places in Tokyo is the Kabuki-theater.

Exactly opposite (accross the street), there is a small knife shop selling japanese knives.

Also, I remember that there were two shops selling mostly american-made blades (at high prices of course) inside a shopping alley somewhere, but I cannot remember exactly where was that.

Maybe Copfish could help here.

P.S. Japan is a magnificent place. How I would like to be there again...

Thanks for all the great replies. I'll let you guys know how the trip goes.

You should definitely see the Japanese Sword Museum. Some study prior to the visit will be helpful in understanding. And Japanese people will love you when you show interest in their culture and learn to speak some basic words. It's so simple!

Have a good time over there!
