I picked this up at a knife show, nice little half congress. Eventually I am going to re-handle it in elk horn. Just thought I would post it up and see if the groom still has his or wants it first. A shot in the dark I know, but I will feel better if I at least try before I mess with it. It will be a nice winter project

You might ought to consider leaving it as it is. It will sure help some future collector to establish its age, as well as documenting the use of knives as wedding gifts culturally.

Nice idea to try to give it back to the groom; I never would have thought of that. He's probably dead or divorced anyway. If you want to worry about archival concerns, you could just keep the old handles with the knife. I wouldn't worry about it myself.
