If I have wronged an innocent party that was certainly not my intent but you HAVE exclusively posted in the classified section (with two exceptions) until joining in this thread to pass on excuses for an apparently serial thief.

That's one of the problems with just being here to buy and sell things rather than actively participating. No one knows who the heck you are. You have no meaningful reputation. You may be a great stand up guy. You may just be another scamster account. We don't know and you are behaving far more like the latter than the former.

Huh...posting occasionally to the board, and mostly to the classified makes my behavior suspicious. And since I was wronged by Jeremy and posted my experience with mailing him, my behavior is doubly so. OK.

Not sure how you could have relayed the info any differently. After re-reading your post(to be sure) it seems clear(at least to me) that you were just letting us know what you received as a response, and were not trying to sell us on him being dead-which I doubt very much. Seems like Jeremy may be sweating a bit. I hope those ripped off keep the pressure on and file criminal complaints.

Several new ones for the ignore list from this thread. I personally find those that are here solely to sell and buy to be bottom feeders that I don't want to do business with or read their bullshit excuses and stories about how they really are a good guy. Most of the time that is also followed by how they fell on hard times, got over extended etc. All BS by no honor weasels.

I have never found much use for the ignore feature on any sites I frequent for a couple of reasons: (1) sometimes my initial impressions of people are wrong; (2) I am willing to tolerate a good amount of disagreement or opposing views; (3) If someone displays consistently ignorant, foolish, or inflammatory behavior, then natural selection (and the mods) tend to take care of business.

I generally agree with the above, but I find that there are some few people that I am just happier and better off not ever seeing their crap... save myself a little frustration and wasted time.

No, not venturing out of the classified section except to post a nominal excuse for a serial thief who we KNOW has set up various scam accounts makes for some suspicion. Posting in the classified section alone is not suspicious in and of itself.

Heck if you had just framed your post differently (i.e. something like, "Hey I got ripped off by this creep too and when I emailed someone emailed back and claimed he was dead can you believe it?" Might have been a better intro.
 
Have any of the wronged parties contacted the Franklin MO county sheriff yet to file charges as recommended by my contact at MODOC?
Jeremy Swisher’s supervising agent will be back in the office Monday and my contact has forwarded her our correspondence and the link to this thread.

I will, come new year's. Since I used Paypal F&F I don't have recourse with Paypal. And since I received the note from his e-mail that he "passed away", I can enter that as evidence, if it helps. My loss is less than $300, but if enough people pile on, then maybe the total loss can cross some threshold that makes the penalty that much worse. I will follow through.

Yes you can. Just the fact that you need to use paypal as a mediator to get your property or money shows that he intended to defraud you and committed or attempted to commit theft.
You can and I highly recommend you do file charges.
The more people that do, the more likely LE can show a conspiracy.

The probation officer may only be able to do so much once she is made aware of this. The liason recommended contacting LE and filing charges.
Jeremy Swisher has committed at least a half dozen prosecutable offenses just between these two threads.
I don’t have a dog in this fight besides the fact that an effective prosecution of a thief and scammer will show that these threads do have results beyond banning and that the membership here does not tolerate this behavior.

Theft, which is called “Stealing” in the MO penal code of up to $750 is a misdemeanor however, Jeremy Swisher is on probation or parole for the same offenses which should violate him and buy him some extra charges.

If PayPal refunds your money- He still stole the money.

Has anyone forwarded the MO Contact information to PayPal in their transaction claim against Jeremy Swisher? They might have an interest in this.

If you paid via F+F you should still file a claim with PayPal against this thief. People have posted on Bladeforums about being made whole, compensated even though they paid via F+F.
 
You can also contact the MO DOC directly- i posted the email earlier in this thread. They responded within 10 or 15 minutes and even emailed me directly to advise that all concerned parties affected by Jeremy Swisher’s theft should file charges with the local police, which, i am not positive but believe it to be the Franklin County Missouri Sheriff’s Department as Lonedell is an unincorporated community in Franklin County.
Jeremy Swisher’s supervisory agent will be back in her office on January 3rd and the link to this thread and the older thread were forwarded to her.
 
I have to strongly recommend that if you want to keep Jeremy Swisher from stealing from other knife collectors and he defrauded you or stole from you file a police report with his local PD. Again, i am in MA and not MO but I believe Lonedell is serviced by the Franklin Co Sheriff’s Dept
