I know it's nothing but I got this little EDC sak today and I am very HAPPY with it. I chose this over the regular Pioneer because..who really need a can opener? This one has a sheepfoot blade instead that I don't know how to use it (prolly like a cutter), but I am sure one day it'll come handy... and I'm not even an electrician. Anyway..I just wanted to share this little score. ciao!

I just got a Pioneer (old cross) a few weeks ago and I am loving it. Such a great size. But, I think the electrician is a better EDC for 99.99% of the people out there. I would use the sheepfoot blade way more than the can opener. A see of quite a few people mentioning the sheepfoot gets used a lot over the full blade. Now the bottle opener, that's a heavy use item for me.

I have the full size electrician and it's one of my favorites. The round blade on the sheepsfoot is for stripping wires but works great on firesteels. The flat portion I keep razor sharp for precision cuts and as a backup.

thnx man! I also thought I'd use the flat side as a cutter for scraping bark and putting sharp points or notches on sticks of all sorts. I will try on firesteels as you suggest! cheers

The Electrican is a fantastic knife. If Victorinox would just add the saw from the Farmer....

I find a sheepsfoot blade to be great for general utility. I've come to prefer them (and/or wharncliffes) over standard clips and spears for most cutting tasks.

Hey Tommy, look at me! Let me have your full attention.

No alox SAK is nothing. In fact, alox SAK's are the most useful pocket knife you could carry. They are in fact quite something. All those other knives are just a one trick pony with a limited use in the real world. A SAK gives you some basic tools that solve those pesky problems that pop up in life now and then. From dealing with a roadside repair to opening up a cold brew at he end of the day.

I never used the saw on my farmer so I went with a second blade. Don't miss it but your needs may be different.

Tommy, one thing to note is the sheepsfoot is ground thicker then the main blade for rougher work like cutting into wires. I've been meaning to drop the angle on mine for the way I use it but haven't gotten around to it yet. I'm thinking a diamond stone would make quick work of it though.

That sheepsfoot is great for opening Amazon packages. :)

I like the awl for that. The tip is sharp but fat which keeps it from sliding into the contents on the other side. It also doesn't seem to pick up as much tape glue as a flat surface like the blade. Did I mention I like the electrician? ;)

This is really to the OP but fits as a reply to this post as well.

I have a Harvester and really like the hawksbill, use it much more than the main blade.
But the Harvester, like the Farmer, is a 3 layer tool with a saw - I've realized that I really don't need/use the saw and would prefer a 2-layer design like the Electrician. That's the next model I intend to get  Good choice, Tommy.

Just a great model and one of my favorites. It'll serve you well. You may even end up liking it well enough to want a custom......

Joe, what is your source for custom SAK's? I have a couple, but they don't look like yours. Thanks

It was my second Alox knife and I love the Electrician, and Harvester.
