Just got myself a Victorinox Pioneer range, "Electrician".

Jackknife is right . A SAK Alox is a great knife and is widely recognized as such too . I like the two blades on that one

Here's my two

I would put a sheep foot to more use than can opener but can opener would be used more than bottle opener

I love the regular Alox Pioneer, this version looks great too. That second blade would take a lot of harder use off the main blade.

The electrician always makes me think of my Dad, he's been edc ing one for years now

Also, just realized I've been saying "victorianox" all this time

Hey Tommy, look at me! Let me have your full attention.

No alox SAK is nothing. In fact, alox SAK's are the most useful pocket knife you could carry. They are in fact quite something. All those other knives are just a one trick pony with a limited use in the real world. A SAK gives you some basic tools that solve those pesky problems that pop up in life now and then. From dealing with a roadside repair to opening up a cold brew at he end of the day.

 thnx man I love this forum, every day i learn something. I was a bit shy to do a post on my 30 euro Sak Electrician, who compared to the marvels from $ 300 up that you see in this forum seems really nothing .. thanks to all of you for sharing with me a very small moment of happiness! funny thing I always believed that the last knife I would ever want would be a v-inox..and now I can't get it out of my hand!! so good

Tommy ,the tops of the pulltab cans are very sharp !! You won't need a knife , just use the top !!

Joe, what is your source for custom SAK's? I have a couple, but they don't look like yours. Thanks

The Ti Electrician is from ALM, a 2014 build. The Ti minichamp is from Syph, but someone else did the stonewash on the tools in it.

Both gentleman are at the top of their game in modding SAK's.

I'm considering another Ti Electrician build but from Syph this time.

This is truth.

How many times has someone said they messed up the edge of their knife because they didn't have a can opener, or snapped the tip of their expensive knife off turning a screw or lightly prying with it? When in reality, if they'd only had a standard $25 Alox Pioneer (or any standard SAK, Alox or Cellidor), such chores would have been easily accomplished with no damage or hassle whatsoever. Carrying a good SAK like the Pioneer make good, basic sense, as opposed to carrying a knife blade-only folder as a do-it-all tool.

Jim

The can opener is a great tool, try sharpening the inside edge of it. Perfect for string, twine, and packaging.

I can't count the times a SAK, alox or not, has saved my butt from some great inconvenience or worse. You could go as far to say, next to alox SAK's, all other pocket knives pale to insignificance.

Agreed! As much as love CV and 1095, the SAK gets it done every time it is called upon.

Thanks Joe, The knife I have is a Lessard but it has a higher polish. I have an ALM on order. I have a Sakai with a ZDP-189 blade which I want to move to a custom.
The SAK Waiter has a blade that is both a cap lifter and a can opener.

After a week of use i'm so in love with this alox I decided that I had to buy its little brother "Cadet". These little guys are terrific... and they made me forget my other knives :D
