This is my latest Chris Reeve, a Jeroboam 11, handmade early 1986. This was made, according to Anne Reeve when Chris was just a hobby maker in a garden shed, he had a full time job as a tool maker. It does not have the South African stamp on it, this was only introduced in 1987
This knife was made on a lathe, the blade was finished by draw filing so no milling marks. It is slightly more meatier than the SA stamped ones and the sheath is also slightly different from the later versions. This was sold to a British soldier serving in SA, it looks like he did not use it much!
Anne has authenticated that the knife and sheath are genuine Chris Reeve, also she pointed out that Chris used to sell a few of these unmarked knives at local knife shows so he could fund the purchase of more D2 steel.
The prototype Impofu is dated the 'English way' by Chris for me and I received it that Christmas along with another fixed blade that did not go into production. You can see slight changes to the design from conception to production.
