Kabar Knives - Like or Dislike

I know what you're saying, the specs are probably identical. The extra $10 isn't a big deal, and I plan on buying one anyway. But I just wondered if, as indicated by the higher price, the Ka-Bars are somehow a higher quality or more desireable than the Camillus?

Knife Center has a very competitive price on those USMCs, most places are right around $50. And the Camillus is usually around $40, so the difference shrinks to $6.

Uh, no. I'm on knife-restriction, having bought at least 35 knives since New Years.

Besides, $46 seems like the regular price, not a special closeout price or anything. I think those Ka-Bars will be around a long time.

I have a pretty darn old one from the WWII era. Bought it off ebay about a year or two ago. It is a highly polished blade with the fuller, formica spacer at the hilt, leather washers and formica at the butt cap. Cast guard stamped Kabar, Olean NY on the bottom. I can get it much sharper than my "modern" Kabar. I can get my more modern pretty darn sharp too so it just goes to show you old school ain't all bad.

Has a sharpened top clip too. Anyways the sheath isn't original I don't belive but it could be as I have seen another with a similar sheath which is way way better made than some I have seen. Nice thick leather. Typical rivets and hand sewn. It appears to me the blade is forged as the grain aligmnet seems to flow the length of the blade. Least ways that's the way it looks to me on the spine. All in all a very nice knife indeed and one I am proud to carry on ocassion especially when riding my bagger. keepem sharp
