Took a break from tree trimming at home this afternoon to play with a few blades. Had an unscientific chop off with my favorite 7 inchers.
1st up is the old USMC, 30 chops

didnt make it all the way thru but still able to make some good curls and shavings.
Next is the short heavy bowie, have not took her out in almost a year, same 30 whacks

just a hair of wood left
Then finally my favorite woods buddy the BK7

all the way in 24 hits
This is in no way an exact test, just some fun for me. The old USMC has seen alot and the Becker has been convexed with the shortie still having factory edge. I had forgotten how much I liked the short hb and will give her some more carry time in the future.

Thanks for looking, pics are for you, edctac.

Awesome man, this is a great thread. First time I've seen a Short HB in use AND it is in a comparison thread to other great 7in blades :).

I'm actually surprised that the BK7 was only ahead by 6 strokes in comparison to the USMC. But I guess that 24 strokes made it all the way through while the other two didn't technically make it.

Thanks again man :).

The large bowie was one of my first "big choppers", great tough allrounder. Tooj's handle really locks up the grip on snap cuts. Some people had issues with the sheath but I thought it was fine.

Both of the kabar bowies should have received more praise around here, especially for what they were selling for before discontinuing. I think I paid 50$ for my large HB which is hard to beat.

Awesome post, s7, hell yeah.

Lookin' good.

Dude I'm pretty sure the large Heavy Bowie 1277 is not disco'd. Only the short and the camp knife.

I really want to get one of the recurve camp knives someday. What's your home address, and when are you away for work? :D

I have a very old military KBar that needs to see more daylight as well......thanks for reminding me!!

the BK7 looks good with those others
