Keep it Alive in 2025

I do think Spark said there would be a forum knife, just far fewer of them ordered, given how slowly the forum knives were selling at the time.

Of course, that may have been before there were still unsold knives in April.

I’m honestly kind of shocked that a nicely made GEC stockman in an exclusive configuration can still be ordered. But the lackluster color/jigging combo, combined with the fact that modifying it to fix this reduces the “collector” appeal, probably limits the draw. It’s an objectively very pricey knife. Remember the quaint old days when we tried to keep it under $100?

Maybe Bill would do a run of Tidioute-trim Esquires at that price point this year 🤣

My all time favorite was red or green scales. Green won out big time in the poll but the sure look red to me.

Spark said IF there was another one, it would be limited, probably to 300 pieces.

To be honest, the 2024 stockman is larger than most people are comfortable carrying. Combined with the price tag, I'm not surprised they haven't sold out.

As respectfully as I can say this....this turnout wasn't really a surprise. I mean, the most popular GEC frame of all time is the #15 with all its variants. The #86s* and #97s both took quite awhile to all sell through back in 2019 with the majority of the negative comments being "too big" and "too heavy". I think we can all agree that if the majority of longtime GEC fans and collectors had those as gripes...the BF #91 wasn't going to be a smash hit. That, partnered with a comparatively high price tag (especially for our Porch members outside the US!) and covers which were (again respectfully, and saying as someone who purchased one) weren't great, if all the dye jobs being shown are any indication, it is not surprising that there are still knives left unsold. Again, not trying to appear critical of anyone involved in this process, it's just what my observations have been, and continue to be. Folks over on the FB group said as much when these dropped as well. First time I've seen a BF GEC drop and not see a ton of posts over there raving about needing to join up and get past the post count so they could get one.

Quiet Quiet I couldn't agree more. Even though everyone eventually warmed up to the 86 pattern frame and now it looks like one of folks' favorite GECs, this is not likely to happen with 97, 91 etc. I personally would definitely get me a 91 (I love that creamy color!), but the price itself... Also being overseas and everything related would add me a hundred or so. Sadly, pass. This is not a $400 knife.

Interesting observation Quiet Quiet ...perhaps an anti flipping strategy that went awry?

As far as Rosecraft goes however..I'm in..I ve got 2 plus the one I swapped with a concreter dude I know ( hoping to bring him in to the fold as a prospevtive trad man) for a fairly non trad Gerber which in fairness has become an edc for the more onerous tasks such as scraping paint can lids and cutting masking tape...
Only one prob with RC knives ....and we all know what that is....No , not the very good quality for price. ..Not the awesome U.S.designs complete with 'authentic' names...Not the global economic strategies....no its something else...Oh wait..I know...we need a smuggler.

That was way after I gave up voting in the polls and resigned myself to being stuck with whatever came out.
A massively brilliant tactic too Mate....did anyone... ever.? Get what they polled for?
Doubt it. We all got stuck good n proper.😅 ho ho ha and there was this one Idiot that ..guffaw chortle... volunteered to write those tube labels...😆😆For Nothing..🤣..what a Maroon.

Following on from my previous posts, these should run at around 90 to 150 USD/EU, depending on size and implements.
I am sure there could also be engraving on the spring, especially for large orders.
Other makers offer similar products.

However, the current love for tariffs could affect the final price, irrespective of where the knife is made.

Quiet Quiet - I posted this a few minuets ago and I think my thoughts kinda run along side yours. Anyway as it turns out the 2024 BF knife is what it is.

"Yes, we all saw the introductory/mock up pictures before ordering so we knew what was in the tube before they came. I got in on the $250.00 pre-order price but many had to pay the inflated $300.00 price. That higher, inflated, price kept, I think, many from buying. Maybe Spark will have to put on a fire sale at the $250.00 price to move the remainder. Anyway mine lives in it's tube, which lives in a prescription bottle."

That is very true. In any case, I highly commend Spark for doing what he did for us, and I don't think anyone could or would say that he didn't do his best to give us a 2024 BF Knife, because he certainly did!

It was just off the mark, and for what it's worth, pretty much all of the models of the #91 fell under that same shadow, so no extra blame can be heaped on our knife, really. Other variants of the #91 run are still available from at least one dealer, in fact*! So, yeah, hopefully if we do get the chance to have a 2025 BF Knife, it's something of a return to the norm.

*I just checked! I know, right??!

Rosecraft would be pretty cool, I've always wanted a forum knife but GEC has been out of my price range for a while. Rosecraft makes nice knives, do something with uncommon covers like purpleheart or a novel color/patterned micarta and at a more affordable price and I'd probably try to buy one. No denim or burlap micarta please, pleeeenty of that around already.

The 2024 knife is a beast! I was certainly hesitant of the price, but took the plunge anyway. It’s one of the few knives that I’ve unwrapped and instantly regretted. Too large/heavy for my pocket, the color and jigging didn’t work for me either. Add in that price tag and ☹️. With all the pre purchase renderings and upfront pricing, I knew what I was getting into. That’s just my entirely subjective thoughts on the knife. The Rosecraft suggestion is interesting as I purchased a few and they are extremely well made with an affordable price-point.

It's unfortunate for us in canada when $250.00 usd with the paypal conversion rate comes to $500.00 cnd then factor in another $85.00 for shipping and customs and you have a $585.00 canadian for a knife.was wrong on my math it's $1.50 cnd = $1.00 usd so $250.00 usd is $375.00 canadian but the rest is correct.

Im down for something other than GEC if its a pattern or design I like. I love my 2024 knife, it's the perfect size (im also a big fan of the 97s and daddy barlows) but at 300 dollars i understand why they didn't sell, i do honestly wish I could justify another one. Id love a more affordable forum knife, maybe something english, german, or french? Or bear and son? They seem to have gotten a little higher qc the last couple of years. Case i assume wouldn't do one, and buck already did a 301 right?
