Knife boxes

Making things for personal use, relatives and friends takes up all of my free time. I don't think I have time to make any for sale.
And from experience, you'd never sell them for the actual work you have in them. Your family, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews will value them far more than would anyone else. Your craft is one that will live on and be cherished long after you're gone. There's no better gift for your loved ones, and no artifact that will be more highly treasured by your ancestors. Your work is phenomenonal and will survive long after you're gone. So few people are able to give such gifts to their families these days. Great job my friend.

Thank you.

I'm running out of room in my knife boxes, So I'm making one capable of holding 70-90 folders. Mahogany with a glass lid. 2 drawers under a top display shelf.

Just wondering if I should put in removable dividers like in past boxes I've made. Or leave the shelf and drawers wide open for more flexibility. The dividers would be removable - just don't want to go through the work of making dividers if they prove to be a hassle in the long run.

I strongly prefer dividers so the knives don't slide around when I have to move the boxes.

As for flexibility, do you have knives in lots of different sizes?

If you ever want to get rid of some your older boxes, I bet you will have no trouble finding buyers.

Thanks. I'm making some removable dividers so that I'll have a choice. Not much flexibility in knife sizes. Most are 3.5" - 4" closed. I made one grandnephew a knife box. Have another 4 year old who needs one. Probably won't be selling any for a while. Still making stuff for me, family and friends, and I work slow.

Here's one of mine for fixed blades. Got some nice, unfinished pine boxes from Amazon, made dividers, a removable tray, and gave them a nice oil finish.

Here's one for folders:

Very nice! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you. You have inspired me to make one from hardwood. I have some nice black cherry harvested from one of my trees. It is seasoning now and should be ready by summer.

If you have space you should look into a wall control pegboard. Heres my setup, it’s still a work in progress.

Excuse my ignorance, but how do I attach a picture

Made another knife box. Mahogany with 3 drawers, a shelf and a glass top. 68 spaces with removable dividers.
