Knifecenter Exclusive Large Sebenza 31

That’s a major bummer wickettedge wickettedge
Is your knife S45VN or magnacut?

I’ve carried mine fairly frequently but it hasn’t been too hot in New York yet so not too much sweating with it. No issues here so far.

I wonder if this could be due to solvent being trapped in the cleaning stage prior to being taped down.

Ive seen lacquer thinner and other solvents do some wild things to plastic like materials.

Wow, that's "surprising;" nice thing is you know that CRK will take care of you. Doesn't make it happening any less painful, but you are backed by the best in the business for warranty.

Welp... it happened to me too. Gotta be either a bad batch of G-carta, or is G-carta not as sweat resistant as micarta? This is my first knife with G-carta, but I've had a bunch of micarta knives with no issues.

Had my Magnacut 31 in my pocket yesterday, playing a gig outside at a friend's kid's school. It wasn't super hot in upstate NY yesterday - 65 degrees or so - but I got decently sweaty. When I pulled the knife out at the end of the gig I noticed the g-carta had swelled up in the middle quite a bit, and was separating from the titanium handle at the top of the knife. An hour or so later it had separated in a second place as well. No splits in my g-carta, just swelling and pulling away from the handle.

After a day or so of drying out, the swelling has gone down a bit but not subsided completely, and the separations are still there. Going to email CRK tomorrow but looks like mine is going to go hang out with wickettedge wickettedge 's for a while.

Update for anyone following...

My knives are on their way back to CRK. They got right back to me when I emailed and said it seems like there is a problem with this batch of G-carta and it is something they are working with the manufacturer on to make right. They didn't have a timeline for me as to when the work would be completed - since it seems like it involves getting a new batch of G-carta from the manufacturer, they did say it could take awhile. I was told that Tim is very involved in this and committed to getting it right.
