I have a question for anyone who has one of these. Is the blade welded to the handle, or is the whole piece (blade and handle) forged from one piece of steel.

The cross pieces are obviously added on, but I'm talking about the U-shaped handle frame.

Some of the traditional vintage Katars are made from a single piece of steel, and some have the blade welded to the handle.

I think the blade is welded to the handle. We saw one some time back that came undone, apparently a bad weld. Auntie of course made it right as always.
