I'm making kydex for the first time and I'm not sure which thickness to go for. are there any pros and cons for each thickness?

I would suggest niether and advise you to go with .060...

These sheaths (right and left) and pink holster are made with .080 and the grey holster for the M&P is .060.

You will get more strength with .080 but .060 is plenty storng enough for most chores but you'll get a lot more definition with .060...

This holster is .060 and has way better definition.

I do use .080 for the belt loops though.

Good luck and post your project when you get it done!

Definitely .080 unless it is a small neck knife or something. Proper heat, press, or vacuum press will result in definition

I've only made .080 kydex sheaths so not to sure but I can tell you this it is perfect for me in terms ridged yet mold able

I use .060" for light blades like parring knives or small neckers, .080" for most others. My .093 is for holsters and real heavy blades.
Just my thoughts others may have more informed opinions

...i would not use .060 for any knife big or small.
Every time i see a "my kydex sheath lost it`s retention" post it`s a .060 one ...the $$$ savings don`t worth the trouble....
