Looking for a good quality Laguiole Knife. Can someone please make a recommendation? Budget is Around $250 or less and would like a blade length of between 3.4-4”. Any US dealers?

Thanks,

shane

Plenty of ideas in here

Thanks. Took a quick look earlier but there were so many Opinels and other non Laguiole knives that I have to take some time to search the 85 pages.

PM me and I can help.
Will need an email.

Cheers,

Roland.

Very nice and thanks for sharing new source.

Can you provide some additional information so we can provide better recommendations?

What type of steel do you want for the blade? Carbon or stainless?
Shadow or bolsters? If bolsters, do you you want stainless or brass?
What type of covers do you want? Horn, wood, or other?

Stay tuned for Traditional French Friday. Many great examples for you to view.

Yep👍
More detail will help, plenty of good options.
Good luck

Not sure about the steel. My initial response would be carbon if the holds an edge better.
Open to stainless bolsters or just bolsters at the bee. Assuming that is what shadow is?
Open to horn or wood.

My main concern is quality.

A shadow knife has no bolsters.

You're in luck. The dollar is very strong in relation to the euro at the moment. This is a great time to be in the market for a laguiole.

The easy button when it comes to laguioles is to order from Fontenille Pataud. The quality of their knives is top notch. They offer a plethora of cover materials, but perhaps best of all, they readily cater to the American market. Other makers can require a bit more effort in the acquisition process.

I like mine.

Here are some good choices…….

kamagong kamagong has a very valid point, the Dollar has soared against the Euro so getting a French knife from France is a real advantage.

F-P has a lot of incentives: consistent quality, many scale options, choice of steels, styles and very decent customer service. They also have LOCKING Lags too which I like very much. Their site is very good and you are unlikely to be disappointed.

Here, 10.5 cm in Ram's Horn

Here's my FP locking laguiole and i have to say it is a great knife. I can open and close it one handed and this one with the 14c28n steel is a breeze to sharpen.

A big plus for the locking version is that it has a blade stop pin so there's no blade rap when allowed to snap closed. I don't mind the two handed close of my other laguiloles at all but it is nice to not have to worry about the locking version.
