When was the last time anyone felt the urge to lash their knife to a stick?

Here's the article:

I can say that I have never felt a need to do this. Attaching a stout lever to a blade seems an excellent way to torque and break most knives.

I think about it all the time. Never did it. My TRC Splinter 120 has tube fasteners to lash to a stick to fashion a spear. Pig sticker.

You are doing it wrong. Where do you get duct tape in the wild? You are supposed to use the paracord lashing points that are so common on modern tactical knives.

See! This is why I'd never do it. I'd screw it all up. Honestly though, you have no idea what your talking about. I've seen duct tape hundreds of time in the wild.:D
My next idea was to electrical tape a case trapper to a pool cue. :)

I saw Joe Teti use a Cold Steel Bushman to kill a wild boar in a Hawaii episode. Come to think of it, I think he just inserted a stick into the hollow handle. So I guess that doesn't technically qualify as lashing a stick to a knife. But I think maybe I saw either Teti or Dave Canterbury do it in a different episode, in the African bush. They needed a weapon, and he lashed a knife to a stick.

I would do it in a survival situation, if I had a couple of large knives with me. If only one large knife, I don't think so.

I've not had a lash a knife to a stick fantasy for a while.

I used to have a hollow handled survival knife. I used to think about making a spear out of it as a kid.

Until the blade and handle parted ways!!

I do want a spear...but a dedicated spear..on a nice ash shaft...

I have not needed to, but I can see a few uses if you had no other options.

Cutting fruit from a tall branch.

Lashed to a light stick and swinging it to cut tall grass like a machete.

Needing to poke something hard to reach or dangerous, like an mud wasp nest.

I’ve never had to do this, but who knows...maybe one day.
