Lash your knife to a stick?

If my knife is lashed to a stick, what do I throw at the invisible pirates?

Well, typically I dont. The last time I lashed my knife to a stick it worked pretty well though. I was pretty hungry so I speared a boar in the wilderness when I was being chased by the law after I got home from Vietnam. I didnt want to do it, but they drew first blood. THEY DREW FIRST BLOOD!

I’ve thought about it, but never really got around to it as a city boy. There’s not exactly a lot of jungle in the metropolis.

If I did try it though, I’d probably go with the duck tape method too, lmao.

i have a wooden spear in my backyard as a ah --- varmint deterrent, that's as far as ill go with it, hardened it with fire then used wood lacquer and wax to finish and protect it, been there for 2 years and still pointy and hard, its a good flier too

Last time would have been about 5 years ago gigging frogs and lost one of the gigs ... happened to have a Tops Hoffman Harpoon and tied it on as a replacement ... worked pretty good ... not as well as the gig but it served the purpose.

Spears and pole arms have been proven in history to be quite useful for some situations .

Hunting , warfare , self defense , survival , foraging etc .

Maybe not in the tightly enclosed spaces of urban / suburban living or inside vehicles . But in more open spaces , the advantages are many .

Leverage , tip speed , kinetic energy , reach and distancing . That's all with no throwing .

Throwing a properly balanced , not too heavy spear is much easier and more effective than throwing a regular knife .

IMO , definitely a useful and valid weapon / tool and skill set for wilderness survival , at the very least .
