Leather Scales?

None of my throwers have any scales, but I know some of you guys like to wrap your handles and some knives have plastic scales. Any thoughts on how the handles used in
would fare on a thrower?

Leather takes dings and dents easier than plastic or metal, and throwing is going to batter leather scales quickly. If they are epoxied on, eventually replacing them would be a tedious process. I have had some good results making cuirboilli for various things, which involves lightly boiling the vegetable tanned leather and impregnating it with heated beeswax. It makes the leather hard enough that it might stand up to throwing, but with the effort involved versus the payoff, I think bare handles work just fine.
