Looking for a good neck knife

I also have a legriffe and like it alot. It's really the only fixed blade knife I carry. However, I don't carry it as a neck knife. But it feels good in the hand, and is a good all round knife. The sheath seems fine on mine also.

I'm quite fond of my Newt Livesay WOO, CRKT stiff KISS and my spiderco Spot. (more or less in that order) I took the chain off of my (probibly discontinued) Cold Steel Culloden becuase I wanted to mount a bootclip on there but I never gotten around to it.

Try a c.r.k.t carson neck knife, plain or part serrated at about 4inches long or the c.r.k.t ryan plan B which is a little larger but quite a comfortable neck knife.

I see you're looking for something that can be used as a kitchen knife, a Hideway or other claw like thing might not be the best choice here ;)

I've been wearing an Arclite (Darrel Ralph, Camillus produced) for several months now and besides being almost invisible under regular clothes (excellent flat kydex sheath) is is very comfortable to wear and use also as a meat cutter.

The Becker Necker is also an excellent choice, but as others have mentioned it is a bit thicker and imo the handle is not as comfortable unless you cord wrap them.

I am the proud owner of 2 Fallkniven WM1 knives. One is a neck knife the other has a belt sheat. I use them a lot. One of the most practical knife designs ever.

I would reccomend the Spyderco Ronin if it was still available, but I found the sheath on that unnecessarily bulky and let's not mention weight.
The Scorpion MOD Tactical Knife looks kinda a weird but is light.
The La Griff (and all others its size and dimensions), is probably what fits a neck most. Good Luck in your search!

Thanks a lot all for your feedback
I'm gonna print this post, read for the weekend
and then revert to you next monday
Enjoy your weekend

Another vote for the Buck Hartsook , although the blade is sort of small for kitchen use , it would work in a pinch though.
(an opinion though about the Hartsook sheath - it sucks , I have pulled that knife out of its sheath accidently , too many times , nothing quite like having a few inches of razor sharp S30V on your bare belly  )

If you are looking for value , the Ryan PlanB by CRKT is a good choice as is the Crawford Falcon , also by CRKT - although here too , the sheath is horrid.
Nothing that cannot be corrected by a couple hours of leatherwork though.

I'll second that. I picked up one in D2 when A.G. Russell had an exclusive on them. It's a great little neck knife.

I wear one very often and I find I will only wear them a lot if they are 2 oz. or less. 1 - 1.5 oz is even better.

My favorite is a Krein TK-1. Small but great knife. I also wear and recommend a small Perrin LaGriffe, Busse Skeleton Key, Dozier neck knife, or Krein TK-11.

If you buy one that is too heavy you will not wear it. Knowing what is too heavy for you would be a good thing to try out before buying.

Depends what your carrying it for , for utility i would look at a Bark River - slither or micro slither , or a Benchmade 210-211 .

For the money, the CRKT Neck Peck (out of production) is a great neck knife, plus the sheath set up allows it to be carried in a pocket quite easily. Not the best steel, but a great shape and quite light.

My vote, however, would go to the Benchmade TK-1 Neck Knife. I have one with a black-coated blade and serrations. It's a featherlite knife with an aggressive grip and thumb ramp. The sheath is minimal but very versatile and I love BM's break-away lanyard (Of note, though, is the fact that the lanyard breaks away much easier when wet - my brother lost his that way:grumpy: ). Unfortunately, BM has decided to discontinue this knife:( . It's not hard to find on the internet, though.
