Lance, I agree and disagree. While they have your Stinger I'm sure you wouldn't talk any smack about them : ) but why should they get a pass on normal, decent, respectful behavior?
Do you know ANYONE that is putting in "normal office hours" these days?
Keeping your answering machine full at all times is not respectful or decent behavior for a business. If you don't want to allow people to leave messages, set up your phone to do that- otherwise you look like a clown.
If you can't get back to someone in a few days, an "out of office" reply should be sent when emailed.
Common etiquette and courtesy.
I've run into this before - Devin Thomas held onto the antlers from a nontypical spike I shot- the first ever with a traditional bow mind you- because I wanted him to make matching knives for my daughters. After 3 years of excuses he sent them back to me without so much as an apology. In the meantime lots of knives rolled out of the shop- I suspect over at FF right now, they are working on what they want to work on before what they have to work on. That's the same immaturity I see in my high school kids, and the only lecture I give them about "their generation". The ones that "get it" thank me later in life. Guys get a bit of attention for their work and it goes to their heads, courtesy out the window, they are now "Artistes" (say it with a French accent for desired effect : )
I hope that they sort out these communication issues and learn to prioritize, not only for your (and my) personal issues, but because they do have a lot of courage in design, and no baggage like some of the other makers (caught in lies, 'stolen glory" issues, horror stories about epic failures, etc.).
Again- it doesn't take more than 10 minutes to set up a email message or phone message. Or let us know where we stand in the queue. Even the deli counter has that sorted out.
