Looking for my “forever knife”.

Evidently the Spartan folks will engrave the knife for a modest fee, so you could get the large Harsey folder and get a design on it and keep it within your budget.
The handle? I've been on the fence about picking one up, this would probably put me over the edge. I keep missing the special editions

The Spartan Harsey Folder is a wonderful knife. Kind of like the love child of a CRK large Sebenza and an XM-18…if I had to pick one of my knives as a “do-it-all” folder, it would be the SHF.

Another vote for the Spartan SHF here. It's a phenomenal knife, and has done everything I could have asked from it. I only have two, and have had to stop myself from buying...well, all of them. You can fall down a well REALLY quick with these. Simply fantastic knives, plus, made here by a reputable company run by good folks. It's a winner.

Id either get a nicer knife that's a tad used, than a less-nice new shiny one. $600? Check to see if you can find a David Mosier Mid Tech brand new - it will do the job.

Spartan Harsey
Emerson Tiger
Microtech socom Elite Manual
Cold steel SR-1

Under your size limit the large Inkosi and Umnumzaan from CRK can also be considered. Demko ad20 too.

I like my ZT 0562CF. About the same weight as the Shaman and on the larger size for a folder. You can get it either with a Carbon Fiber or all titanium. Pick your poison. Smoothest knife I've owned really.

Really appreciate the input guys. With this new budget, I’m really out of my element. Time to watch a few thousand reviews relating to your suggestions!

No matter what new favorite knife I buy, I always gravitate back to one of my Chris Reeve Knives. And occasionally I'll even buy a new CRK.:)
impeccable quality, class, durability, ... glad you have the cash for one. For me, they are made of unobtanium, just out of financial reach.

May I suggest the Medford M-48. It has a 3.9" blade that carries like a 3.5" knife. Lighter than a Shaman. Aluminum show side but titanium lock side. Razor sharp hollow grind with a mirrored stonewash finished blade. Features a reinforced "magnus" grid tip for strength. Integrated deep carry pocket clip that won't snag on your pocket. Hard to get due to limited production runs, but they are in production as I type this. Otherwise you will have to custom order one which will require about a 2-3 month lead time.

Edit to add: Microtech Socom Elite manual and Spartan Harsey are also great recommendations.

I also like the Spartan Kranos... it's lighter than the Shaman, but only a bit shorter...
