Lost my Favorite Pocket Knife

I've got several manual open pocket knives and I just prefer the assisted/auto for ease.

While an assisted knife kicks out reliably, I find them less easy or convenient to close as the tension from the assist needs to be overcome. I still have one assisted knife in my EDC rotation and that feature really stands out now when I use it. As I said before, a good manual action can kick out at least as reliably.

It seems like you might be coming from a place that I've been. Just in case, I want to know if you've tried a really good manual action. To put it another way, I'd hate to see a person write off steak because they only ever had it at Denny's. Great manual action is a beautiful thing and an experience no enthusiast should be without.

I'll look for one of those around here that I can hold. Seems to be on the low end of the price range, but it might be a great knife. thanks

I have given two away to people who are users but not knife fanatics and they LOVE them.

First, thanks for the add, been reading a lot, great forum.

So I've carried the same small pocket knife for years (SOG FLASH 1). It hasn't been made in years & I'm looking for a comparable replacement. Something under $100, preferably under $75. Want it to be small enough I can keep it in my pocket with other stuff and it not be noticeable, needs a clip, prefer it to to have a power assist or auto blade, like the SOG.

Any thoughts? Everything I've seen is well over $100 for that similar size knife.

thx
You know, under $75 is not something I usually deal with. But I can tell you of a knife I had through 4 years in the military and two 10 month deployments. It was a Microtech Socom Delta with the tanto blade and no serrations. That knife was absolutely amazing. And through sand storms, fuel spills, salt water, etc, that thing lasted amazingly.

Then I lost it about 6 months after, which honestly made me quite sad. I spent months looking for it on trails, inside couches, along roadsides, etc. which should be a testament to how amazing that knife was and how much I trusted it.

What about a benchmade mini barrage, assisted opening, decent steel , kinda in your price range. It can even be de assisted fairly easily.

Gonna look into a couple of these mentioned. I went ahead and bought a couple of the one's on ebay for the time being. I still want to find something else that is current;y being produced. Think I might get my wife to buy me a SOG Compact TAC-AU for xmas & give it a try, its a little bit bigger than the flash 1 though. This flash 2 I've been carrying is way too big & heavy for me as an EDC.

Google CRKT Heiho or Endorser. Both inexpensive AO, small size, decent quality, decent steel, May fit your bill.

i would save up/pay extra for a benchmade mini barrage, even though it costs more in my opinion its one of the best assisted knives ive ever handled and is worth it. it just feels great in the hand, perfect size and the action is excellent and reliable. if you decide to get one, order it from an actual dealer as there are a lot of benchmade fakes going around lately
