Machete ban Victoria down under

...and when the youth start stabbing each other with screwdrivers?
Actually in another post about the UK I said I wanted to produce and market a line of “Zombie themed” screwdrivers there. Just to see how politicians would respond. Adding Victoria to the list.

Anyone out there have a friend that works at a tool manufacturer with a sense of humor?? ;)

There’s scope for a whole range of tools. Crow bars, hammers, chain saw bars, pipe wrenches. 😉

The sad thing is that in Australia both youth crime and crime in general has been declining for decades. It's just that the media beats it up to the point where most of the general public gain the perception that it's out of control. The machete ban is one of many examples of this. It's embarrassing frankly

In Victoriea youth crime has most definitely increased. I do not support the machete ban in any way but you’re kidding yourself if you think it hasn’t become a problem.
This shit never happened 10 years ago and now it’s a regular occurance. I’m fully ware of the media and politicians fear tactics and that’s definitely being used to push the ban. But it’s also real. The problem as I’ve said before is that the legal system isn’t enforcing laws that already exist. Carrying a weapon into the city is illegal. we’ve got teenagers who’ve been bailed over 50 times in some instances running around with homemade or cheap Chinese machetes committing crimes.

These crimes are certainly happening.

funny thing is i imagine all of the cane cutters in far north Queensland will be wondering if they will soon need to buy a safe and lock up their tools of trade in case they might be stolen. Perhaps they might have to register them and obtain a cane cutters permit as a Bonafide reason to own a machete, just saying.
