I did it.

I remembered I had this thread saved for a reason.

My Manix2 LW in Maxamet has went through the transformation.
Love the steel and LW scales. HATE rivet construction.
And I wanted to rework the action to make it smoother and easier to open.

It was originally going to be a simple blade swap to G10 but I could not find
a cheap user to be a donor.

I acquired the parts OP listed and took the plunge because I have nothing to loose.
Failure simply means I have to buy a G10.

You can use a hand drill but I highly recommend a Drill press.
Dont apply pressure to the Ball Cage.
Make good deep Center Punches in rivet heads.
Drill out rivet head. Punch..
Once rivet heads are gone from one side. Carefully pull apart.
The figure 8 things and Steel insert are a PIA to drill. Have good drill bits.

Once it is de-riveted.

Finger drill out the scales to 1/8th hole. Power tool is just to much and FRN is easy to screw up.... Trust me I know.

Parts need some trimming

This is what I really wanted...
Lock was modified to make it as smooth and easy like a BM Axis lock.
Ceramic ball and 1 1/2 coils cut. Never go more than 2 coils.

I think Ill wait on buying G10 because this thing is IMHO

Perfect.

Well after my last BD1 conversion hit a serious snag.
Drill bit broken in the hardened blade stop
and slightly hurt in the wallet.

I took the plunge again but with a dremil and diamond bits.
Ground off the rivet heads. 4 times.

Hardest part was opening the hole on the steel lock bar. Diamond bit ground it to a larger dia.
Bushing guides easily opened up.

For now...

Minor fitting of threaded post will continue later.

Scales awaiting Walmart run for yellow RIT dye.
