Matte Finish?

I ordered a Vic. Climber from Amazon for my nephew for Christmas. It arrived today and has a matte finish with a foil stamped Vic. logo on the handle. Has anyone ever seen this before?

It sounds like "Economy" version, with nylon scales, sometimes called "Climber II". Some people prefer nylon to cellidor, as it's grippier and wears better.
