Maxpedition Falcon II Question

The combine length is long for me so the hip pack actually sits a little low with the top of the Falcon II riding on high side. Good enough for me but would work better for someone a little taller. Hope that helps.

Thanks for those pics. I'm a little taller than you and hope it'll fit well.
I wound up picking up a Proteus and a 12x5 water bottle holder.
Will post my own pics of the Falcon II / Proteus once it gets here.

Good to know, thanks for the heads up, much appreciated.

Yes, photos, and lots of them. How tall are you Guyon?

Just a smidgen over 6'. 6' and 1/2" without shoes. I round up and claim 6'1" on documents. :p

Here's a pic of the Falcon II on my back. Fits fine without a ton of load, but as others have mentioned the belt comes across my belly.
I'm excited that (a) the Proteus might help shift some weight to hips and (b) that I'll have a little more space for overnight gear.

Not sure why this guy doesn't connect the two and have a more integrated system.

Thanks Guyon, much appreciated. I'm just a little over an inch taller than you. Gives me a great idea what I ordered. Gotta get that Proteus. Getting pretty excited myself. I love the size of this pack. I have my ALICE for larger loads. I guess between the Falcon II, and the Proteus, I won't need my sling bag anymore.

No bottom straps on the pygmy falcon II, right? It could still support weight of the pack, and you could probably rig a strap or two somehow.

For what it's worth, I'm 6'3, 220 lbs, and the Pygmy Falcon II fits me just fine and is quite comfortable. I used to be 250 lbs with a 47 inch chest, and it still fit me fine. I'd say you shouldn't have any trouble with the Falcon II

Got my pack in tonight. Loaded it with a few things. I can get it on/off easily at my size, but the belt rides way too high, not to mention doesn't fit around me, lol. Def gonna get a proteus to go with it. Thanks daug. BTW, it fits me very comfortably.

Ok you have me looking seriously at this combo as well. One thing though...my waist if 44. Yea that means I'm a fat guy. You guys think the belt strap on the Proteus will be long enough to strap around my tub (waist)?

Maxpedition's website says the belt maxes out at 49".

Man, I always thought Guyon would be a lot bigger chewing that bacon all the time!!!!!!!!1

I love my falcon II....Its a daypack that I occasionally take on overnighters when I'm going light. But as a daypack it really is superb. In the end, I use a daypack far more than I do multi-day ones. When I go for two or more nights then I bring out a 50L.

Dubz, I got the Proteus in the other day.
It works well as advertised (in this thread) to complete the Falcon II and allow weight to ride on the hip bones.
Here's a couple of quick pics of my setup.

My experience with the Falcon II waist strap involved me removing it immediately, not because it was in the wrong place, but because the pack is too small to carry any real amount of weight that would require the use of a waist belt (15-20lbs).

How much weight are you guys smushing into that little pack, that makes it so heavy that you need a waistbelt?

It's not so much that I HAVE to have a waist belt, but rather that redistributing the weight to shoulders AND hips makes it a more comfortable pack.
The Proteus belt (not the original Falcon II belt) does a good job in this regard.

Damn, that's flippin' sweet brother. Fits excellent. What ya gonna put in the proteus?
