I am not concerned with the weight as i am thickness I bought it for concealibilty to just drop in my pocket or to go under a shirt. How much fatter do the scales make it?

With the scales the knife comes in at right around 1/2"

onado,

As was stated above, you could get away with some small fish hooks and maybe a LITTLE bit of fishing line as they are when you receive them.

Here is what the inside of the scales look like:

You could maybe get away with a VERY small amount of, say, dremeling but as you can see the red liners keep the scales in place on the knife. You would have to maintain the edge of these red liners in order for the scales to fit correctly. Between that and the screw holes there is not a lot of space you could gain from dremeling. Although you could most likely gain a little.

Hope this helps. :D

Erik, that helped alot, thank you! I like the idea of the HEST storage area and thought it could be duplicated on an Izula. I will buy a HEST and leave the paracord on my Izula. I have carried small items in the Izula handle w/a tight paracord wrap.

I find the grip with the scales feels sort of empty at the rear of the handle where the cutout circle has no coverage. I wrapped the circle with paracord and that improved the grip but it looks worse now :o.

I guess I'm in the minority on the handle scales. It feels like I'm only holding the knife with 3 fingers. I much prefer the wrapped feel.

I feel the same way. I prefer scales to parawrap but the bikini scales just don't cut it IMO. That reminds me I should probably get around to selling them. They're just sitting on my dresser.

+3 I sent mine back for credit toward another purchase. I couldn't grip my Izula like I can with the paracord wrap.

Glad you guys dig 'em, that's what counts. :)

PS: Another thing that counts is packing your Izula. Mine is always in my pocket except to bed & in the shower. Did I say I love my Izula? :D

I prefer the handles, because it allows me to put my pinky in the hole for better grip. And the handles just feel great.

I too dislike the scales. While the concept was great, the knife is small so they just didn't feel right to me. I really wish the scales would cover the whole handle for a proper grip purchase, my hands are too big to use that hole in the grip anyway. I threw my scales in the drawer and re-wrapped that one with gutted para-cord. Feels much more stable IMO. BUT they are very high quality, without a doubt.
