Hi Everyone

I am new to Carothers Knives and just jumped in on a new HDFK today.
Does online have pictures of the differences between black Canvas and Linen Micarta? Also I see some people ask for them to be unbuffed, do they normally come buffed?

There are so many photos already floating about on the subforum. Unbuffed handles are just more grippy but less sexy. If you're going more for looks, go with buffed linen (I don't think that unbuffed linen looks that appealing!), then buffed micarta if linen is not your thing because linen, especially buffed is sleeker and a bit more slippery than the buffed micarta. If you want form and functionality and don't care much about looks, unbuffed micarta but if you are a hardcore user and don't plan on getting blood on your handles, then TeroTuff as the king of being grippy as long as if it is being offered.

I have been looking through the photos for a few days now and am sure I have looked at most of the options but not 100% sure what micarta I’m looking at when it come to linen vs canvas.The one I really like is the antique micarta but unfortunately it wasn’t offered in this run.
 
Are there any pics posted of a buffed black linen micarta handle? So far I haven't found one...

Welcome. The edgecut antique micarta scales are usually a speciality treat which get offered, depending on the pattern, when CPK is running a preorder. They are very seldom offered during the Fridays sales. The linen micarta tends to have these deeper looking scallops across the handle scales whereas the canvas micarta tends to look more textured but without those deeper looking lines running across...
 
What's the difference in the look from the black micarta and black linen micarta?

Thanks Jo, I have a buffed linen one sitting at my place but I am away on holidays and won’t see it for another 8 days. I’m hoping I just scored another one in the sale today and have so far selected unbuffed black Canvas but depending on the look I may change to unbuffed Linen. Worst case I already know I like the unbuffed Canvas ;)

I have a set of maroon linen that the previous owner lightly blasted. Superb grip!!!
I’ll need black linen for all my CPKs now!!!
 
Wow, I love this thing!!!! I’m glad I have another one coming ;)
The fit and finnish is amazing and the ergonomics are incredible. This one is in buffed linen micarta, the other one I have coming is unbuffed linen micarta but I also have a set of Tera Tuff scales as well.

Here are some pics beside a couple of my favourite Busse knives. Hog Badger (5.9 in Blade) and a TGLB (8 in Blade) for comparison.
