Hi guys. I use my 1917 frontier bowie as a chopping tool. While it has good weight, balance and durablility, I feel that the thick primary bevel is holding it back. So I intend to thin out both the primary and secondary bevels on the bowie carefully on a belt sander. However I hate to lose the excellent factory bluing. Any one knows how I should go about re-applying the blued finish once I am done with the grinding?

While there are bluing kits widely available, it's not going to be easy to match the factory finish, even unlikey.
