Moore Maker Boys Knife

Now I don't like to nitpick, but I am a little disappointed in the blade finish. The mark side has a blotch. It looks like a flaw in the steel that can't be buffed out easily.

@glennbad - It could be that in the buffing/polishing stage, the blade tip overheated. If so, the temper is no good. I Had a nice Buck 301 with elk covers from Buck this happened to making it pretty much useless.

All in all, Im not crazy about this knife, at least not crazy enough to go after the ironwood version. I suppose it could go in the pocket as an every day knife. It has slightly heavier pull for the boy's knife than I remembered. Definitely wouldn't mind throwing it in the pocket for carry and general usage.

I got mine today. I think it is a good example. No major issues, but a few minor things.

Pros:
1. It has attractive lines and really nice covers.
2. Excellent girth on this little knife.
3. Smooth action on the cam tang, with good snap in opening and closing.
4. Smooth transitions and a good fit on the shield.
5. Solid lock up--no blade play.
6. Centered blade and reasonably sharp cutting edge.
7. Flush pins.

Cons:
1. Small gapping between the liners and back spring.
2. Uneven edge grinds.
3. Lots of polishing compound in the nail nick.
4. Blade tang and back spring aren't cut exactly perpendicular to the liners.
5. Shipping price seemed high considering how long it took and with no tracking information.

Overall I think this is a lovely knife that is well executed. It isn't quite the same quality as a GEC, but it is close and there are some things it does that GEC doesn't do (sunken joint, flush pins, long nail nick, interesting varied blade polishes and deep blade etch). I don't understand the shipping costs, unless they are factoring their packaging of the knife into the costs of shipping, which would make more sense as the knife comes with a simply, but nicely done presentation box. I'm glad to see another smaller knife company making knives into the market, and I hope they continue to produce knives of this and even better quality.

Edit: forgot the pictures!
