Most epic Movie Knife Fights

Not the best by any means, but the one that ticks me off the most is the scene in Saving Private Ryan. I would post a clip, or even a pic, but it angers me every time I even think of it. Im sure if you have seen the movie you know the scene I am refering to. Ok, now I need to go get my mind off of it.

I haven't seen that actor in anything else. I bet every time he auditions he just gets yelled at by the casting director "why did you just sit on the stairs crying you SOB!!!!!"

I'd also have to choose the simple, brutal struggle in the tower between Private 'Fish' Mellish and a German soldier in Saving Private Ryan. There was a strange intimacy and sickening realism in the final moments of that conflict that I've since seen imitated many times. Mellish's futile pleas and denials, begging for a time-out as the dagger is turned against him, are painful to hear, and the excruciatingly slow penetration of the blade is horrifying. Worst of all is the almost gentle way the German hushes Mellish, as yet another Jewish life is taken. The knowledge that he was killed with the same 'Hitler Youth' dagger he took as a trophy on D-Day gives the scene further emotional weight. I think there might be intended symbolism in the fact that Upham does nothing as the German kills his compatriot. A suggestion that the US waited too long to join the conflict? IDK.

It might not qualify as epic, but it's definitely the most memorable knife fight I've seen on film.

For most 'epic' -- the final showdown between the Natives and the Dead Rabbits in 'Gangs of New York' qualifies, taking place as the 1863 Draft Riots are erupting throughout the city. Daniel Day Lewis as Bill the Butcher... classic. But the massive melee that starts things off, the original battle that established Bill as the undisputed ruler of the Five Points, is probably my favorite.

I'm surprised nobody posted this one.

It is by far one of the most brutal, realistic depictions of an actual knife fight. The only thing I dont understand is why the hitman would use a knife and not a gun...

Really, a must see. Scary stuff.

I would suggest maybe he wanted to get it done quietly, but... that knife fight was noisier than Vietnam. He should use a gun and spring for a silencer. Or a potato. Something.

Good pick.

The knife fight from the Long Riders.

That was one of my favourites as well. The whole movie was unusually original for a Bond. The only thing I hated was the DC-3 doing a vertical climb from level with an engine smoking... That just ruined it, but otherwise a fun well thought-out watch.

I like Daniel Craig's Bond depictions. He's cold, ruthless, and professional, like the Bond in the books.

He has been in a lot of movies. For the last 4 years, he has been playing Dicky Bennett on the TV show Justified.

always liked the scene in the departed where matt damon uses a kershaw whirlwind to stab someone he thinks is following him, not really a fight but a scene that always stayed in my mind.

Boss fight in the Raid 2: Berandal has a pretty wicked kerambit battle.

I have three from the same movie, Windtalkers, mainly for the realism of the choreography.

He was also in the Texas Rising miniseries that premiered last night on the History Channel....pretty much playing the same character as Dicky Bennett, heh.

I watched the video. Out of everything, I don't know why, but Monk's scenes stick out the most to me. While everyone else is fighting with knives, swords, axes, and other bladed implements, he's out there swinging his shillelagh about, inducing severe blunt force trauma on everyone he hits, generally seeming like he's got the situation well in hand.
