Motorbike road trips, traditional pocket knives, history and culture.

The day started so well and then…
😂

Going down the mountain from my digs on the way to Albecete, this young dear ran across the road and up the rocks.
He stopped and stared at me fo 5 mins,I turned my engine of and watched him.
❤️

I went past another village I stayed at on top of another winding mountain.
Coffee stop next to another petrol station ive used before, you can see the wasp in my visor.
So far so good
😁
an hour away from Albacete it went dark as night ahead of me.
I pulled over to put on my waterproofs
😂
😂
😂
and met a Canadian couple from Alberta doing the same.
They leave there Canadian registered bike here and fly over each year.
Then it started to rain,it was river deep either side of the road and inches deep on the road.
Damp hands ment I couldnt get my winter gloves on they stick.
Cars pulled over,I couldnt see the road or lights of vehicles ahead and behind.
Trucks went past and threw a wave of water over me,water inside visor.
Sat nav took me the wrong way, hands so wet I couldnt swipe my phone to use it to navigate.
Saw my hotel but roads closed so had to make a big detour trying to find it.
Thats life
😂
I was wet inside and out, need to reproof my waterproofs or replace but in todays weather I doubt anything will keep you dry.
Oh I forgot to mention I had a coolant leak before I left I hope it was just the expansion tank.
Isnt my bike lovely?❤️

Hot shower and a big pot of tea I brought my own tea bags with me.😂

Why on earth do I like riding in remote areas of Spain.
😁

I moved my bike stuff so mother and son could have a seat,we chatted a little.
I went to the toilet when I came back he had paid my tab.
When I left they both shook my hand and gave me a big wave as I rode away.
Ive had lots of small kindness like that, outside 4 local lads where watching my bike for me they signalled when they where going and also gave me a wave, cafe big window.😁

I was hoping to spot some bears today, though what I would do if they came at me I don’t know, maybe wave my 74 at them and hope they retreat. 😂

More great photos and stories, John. You are having a fantastic trip. Keep the reports coming.

Great photos. Thanks for taking us along on your trip.
Some of these photos could easily pass for the Black Hills in South Dakota

Bike had a coolant leak 3 days ago, breakdown insurance was outstanding.

Even if I was younger and in better health I have had some challenging days.
Solo with no support and restricted in the distance I can walk,it’s tough.
Deep cuts on my fingertips and thumbs, from the first days freezing cold deluge with red raw hands have added to my other constant pains.
As I use my thumb to change gear its constant agonising pain.
The Army though taught us to be cold, uncomfortable and miserable and get through it, it’s way easier at 20 years old though.
😁

Today was hard collecting my bike after the coolant leak, having to phone England to phone Spain.
Had to leave the hotel by high noon.
😆

The reception girls where on my side and gave me extra time.
On the bike oh this is great,on the lovely route of dinosaurs out of Cuenca.
Then I started to climb, narrow forest road and it started to rain.
That horrible misty clingy rain,I couldn’t see 30m in front, going slow but still hard to see/turn into the hairpins.
Anything else you want to do to make it a challenge?
OK the logging truck hogging the road, not slowing down, thanks.
Sheep either side of the road, bring it on,cows and calves (dangerous) in the road mum eyeing me up,help.
😂

1700m getting worse, but what views of massive rocks pushing through the mist, water logged trees and my runny nose.
❤️

Into Aragon rain behind me fierce wind, but sun on my horizon.
Teruel scary narrow tight turn roads, but my apartment is glorious.
Washing done,Kebab from the shop opposite while watching Callan.
Then tea and cake my landlady left me so nice, more tea and cake to come.
Bike secure in underground parking, showered and fingers re bandaged my landlady saw them and gave me her first aid kit.
Is it worth it???
Every night at Christmas time I prayed I would wake up the next day,I was scared. I didn’t think I would live.
I thought of riding my bike in Spain constantly it kept me going.
Yes it’s worth it,but please turn off the rain and turn on the Sun.
☀️
😎

4 and half hours not including stops from Teruel to Tarragona.

Sunny and windy all the way,was at over 1,000m a lot of the way, good roads amazing scenery.

I got taken for a mug with the egg and chips, you have to take the rough with the smooth.

To show my displeasure I gave him the thumbs down as I rode away. 😂

Still feeling a bit sick, mistook yeast for butter and made a sandwich 2 days ago.

Sodbuster great for food prep on the road.

Ride out about 40 miles from Tarragona, the locals where so friendly.

Had my photo taken with Lionel Messie, owners where Argentinians told me the Falklands belonged to them. 🤔
