Movie knife spotting

I saw an episode of "The Outer Limits" this past Saturday night where an "earthling prisoner of war" on an alien planet had a Spyderco "Q" put to her throat by one of her cellmates......

Interesting....

This is fun

"The Edge" with Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin features a medium sized lockback from a custom maker. They use the knife quite a bit to stay alive. Good spin on the "survival knife" aspect. Also, "Cobra" the Stallone flick. In the very begining, he uses what looks like a Lile folder to dispatch a dirtbag.

Fun Thread...

In Cobra, the bad guy used a Herman Schneider
custom "Cobra" knuckle-spike dagger..wicked!

Seagal used his Mad Dog ATAK while the bad guy wielded a Gerber Mk2 in Under Seige

Face off with Travolta/Cage had the kris pacific cutlery/BM balison, and a SOG Pentagon (Actually I see the Pentagon in a lot of flicks, some prop house must have bought a bunch)

Of course the coolest knife movie ever was CYBORG with a youthful Jean-Claude Van Damme.
A plethora of Cold Steel,Al Mar, and Old Blackjacks. Its my fave because I own a Blackjack Mamba made out of aluminum especially for the film!!

So many knife sightings! Cool!

the movie "Platoon": Sgt. Barnes uses a Cold Steel terminator (at least when the movie was at the cinemas the knife was called terminator, now they call it peackeeper).
Well Sgt.Elias has a Cold Steel tanto
T-2: Linda Hamilton has a SOG bowie.
By the way, I like that topic.

Bartman: I believe someone mentioned once in the forums the folder seen in "Switchback" was a Timberline folder.
In "The Big Brawl" Jackie Chan faced off with a gangster wielding a Pacific Cutlery(?) Balisong.
In "Payback" Mel Gibson cut a gas line with a Spydie (serrated Viele?) and was almost castrated with a Benchmade Balisong.
In "Face/Off" Travolta/Cage gets a Benchmade Balisong in the thigh.
In "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" a Buck 110 or 112 shows up several times in the hands of Benicio Del Torro(?).
In TV's "Millenneum" Frank Black used a Spydie Endura or Delica to carve a Halloween Jack O' Lantern, and the head of the Millenneum group used some type of liner lock to open a package.

William, the movie you are thinking of is "Wanted Dead or Alive" with Rutger Hauer and Gene Simmons. He used the CS Recon Tanto to threaten his ex-boss. Very cool flick.

well in broken arrow they used a Katz K103 I think and in Mr Murder they used a Spyderco Mariner or Rescue.

what about when they used the Gerber Mark 2 in ALIENS that was cool!!!

I forgot which model Buck was used but it was in Phantasim.

I thought that one of the new bucks were used in Payback.

what were the knifes used in Starship Troopers?

I believe the knife used in Wanted Dead or Alive was an earlier version of the CS TANTO, had the same style handle and butt cap as the current models with a blackened blade. Also, remember the Lainhart custom knife in the Abyss used by Lt Coffey(Michael Biehn)?

In the movie "Black Rain" a CS Tanto is used by the bad guy to kill one of the Japanese overlords in the restaurant and I think they also used one of the longer models in the parking garage scene where Andy Garcia is killed.

The folder used in the beginning of 'Cobra' was made by Micheal Walker.
Liked 'High Art/Exposure' alot, I curently carry a plainedge Police Clipit that remindsmy of that movie.

Pigsticker,

Thanks for the remind on the maker's name.
That was one awesome knife.
Anyone have the specs on it?

And here my wife thought I was a movie/knife nut. Thank God I am not alone.

Regarding Mr. Murder, I was most impressed with Stephen Baldwins ability to pick a lock with his Spydie Rescue by merely sticking it into a deadbolt and turning it like a key.

Hey Sal, will my Rescue do that even though it is the Zytel handled model?

In the new movie "Entrapment" you'll briefly see a serrated Delica, a thick-bladed kukri, and a double-edged dagger w/blade similar to Gerber Mk 2.
In "Scream 2" there is a Ka-Bar(?) USMC and a Victorinox Swisschamp.

I thought that the "Mission Impossible" knife was an custom OTF. I am not sure but I have seen many posts about it and no one seems to know too much about it. Is there a name in the credits?

Mike has mentioned before that he supplied that HALO to the propmaster for MIB.

Kurt Russell pokes someone in the eye w/a big fixed blade in "Soldier". At first I thought it was a CR fixed blade but then I thought maybe a SOG of some sort.

Saw a Gerber Mark II on display at Planet Hollywood in Vegas, supposedly used by Segal in "On Deadly Ground". I think Mel Gibson also uses a Mark II in "Road Warrior". Gerbers also used by Pierce Brosnan in "Tomorrow Never Dies". and the same PH had Sean Connerys sword from "Highlander".

And you can definitely see a SOCOM in the briefcase of one of the killers in "The Replacement Killers".

There was some sort of Victorinox used by Clint in "The Eiger Sanction" and the german guy had an OTF in the same movie.

Then check out "El Mariachi", the guitar case has a pretty good selection of all kinds of knives.

Chainsaw in "Evil Dead" "Evil Dead 2" and "Army of Darkness"
