Recommendation? My bk16 and mods!?

I really want a BK16 made with S35VN.:thumbsup:
 
reducing the guard will definitely let you cut better on a board, but you'll never have the finger clearance of a proper kitchen knife. I think you have an excuse to buy a good kitchen knife, for kitchen or camping. :)

I de-waddled my bk-15 for similar reasons and am ambivalent about the results.

I'm kinda with Daizee on this one, For my use, I just hang the "tit" off the cutting board I've always been hesitant to grind it off owing to the fact that it is the primary retention point on most kydex sheathes. If you remove it you'll just have retention on the scales themselves and any blade friction, away will go the nice click of security. For slices, you can lift the heel of the blade and pull the cut with the belly on the board anyway, but i just hang the ricasso off the edge of the board and push forward and down myself, unless the food is too wide.
