My Impressions of Strider

I don't think I've yet to see a Strider KNIFE conversation not be derailed with this drivel. It's done dudes, really. I cannot believe how many internet heroes there are in the world. There are far worse things than Mick Strider.

I don't care what Mick Strider did, does, or is doing. I'm not evaluating his character but rather the products his company produces. His company has been given numerous military contracts. His business partner is a veteran and so are many of the people under his employ. His knives ARE used by special forces members every day. He has at the very least filled contracts for them specifically, many times might I add. If purchasing one of his knives is okay with all of them, it's okay with me too, a civilian.

I think if we were aware of all the injustice we ourselves perpetuate on a daily basis or perhaps the injustices committed by those we so idolize behind closed doors we may soon find ourselves throwing rocks in a glass house. The long shadow of corporate greed taints nearly every aspect of society and life would become nearly unlivable if we sought to avoid supporting it truly and not just Mick Strider.

That is all I will say on this matter.

They say "don't judge a book by its cover"...

But... if Strider were a book, it would be Dianetics. No thanks:thumbdn:

Chris Knife. How are you pal,
I never had a lock fail on a strider. What I said is that they wear in. But never had a danger issue with any of them.
But Ive repaired or worked on close to 18 of them over the past few years now. Including mine. All recent runs that just needed more bend after lock rock developed or what not. But no doubt of every Framelock on the market , these were the most common for adjustments. No failures, but constant adjustments to make up for wear. One thing they could do is make the lock bar cut out just a hair thinner to allow for proper bend from the factory.
I also got all of mine second hand. New or lightly used but for a huge savings.
Payed 275 for my first like new SMF and it was killer.
I dont like steel lock faces or a layer from a carbidizer. I like a well done Ti framelock.
I also dont wrist flick, flip or beat on any knives for that matter. I am just discussing it from the way they wear in naturally.

And I am no Saint, so I wont judge someone I really know nothing about. Its just another knife out on the market as far I can tell.

In the prior post you said wear out, which had me wondering. Thank you for taking the time to clarify.

No problem at all.
I try to explain the best I can, typing can get in the way of that at times. #1 reason I like to discuss things with customers on the phone. Sadly most of you prefer email ;)

I think they are wonderful knives. Not perfect but neither is anything else. I carry this and before I put it in my pocket. I had to sand sharp machining corners near the lock bar cut out, add a little extra bend to the lock bar so it would continue to operate properly. The knife has been switched to tip up and a new clip was added. Perfect now. But heck I can always see room for improvement on every knife I carry and usually I make those improvements myself. This one was made in 2008-9 , I am the second owner and it still has another 60% of room for wear, now that is Tight. I need to try a burke custom some time.
Now its my #1. Along side my Tilock.
FYI. This boy scout knife next to it was a gift from a member that lost his brother. He gifted it to me for my daughters first folder.
I used it a few times but I am keeping it for her.

This makes a lot of sense to me. I have owned a few Striders, but have gotten rid of all of them. I know about all the drama behind the man, and I do think what he did was wrong, but I am not here to judge any man, and I believe we all deserve second chances. Personally, I have never seen or heard of him or his company continuing to perpetrate lies, so I am willing to look past it at this point. I am not currently into that style of knife, but I wont say I will never buy one again. As I said, I don't judge most men very harshly, but I do judge products, and right now they are not my thing. If they are your thing then enjoy them and use the heck out of them in peace.

Some guys don't care mick burger makes money by lying about his service.

Some people do care mick burger lies about his military service and makes money off it.

Personally i believe the dude is scum and making a buck off of lying about his military service is deplorable.

Expect his history to haunt strider threads because he is a wannabe special op lying scumbag. Pretty simple. Hopefully people will read strider threads and become aware of the scum he is.

I agree. My grandfather died in combat in Korea as a marine. people who lie about their combat service is trivializing my grandfathers death, and the deaths of all servicemen who actually saw combat.

I'm astonished people are ok with this.

If that's how you want to spend your time, fine.

Know, however, that the need is gone...just Google "Mick Strider is a liar."
A bunch of stuff comes up, on a bunch of different sites.

So at this point, it's purely for your own enjoyment to keep posting it.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strider_SMF

Read this. The SMF is the first folder ever issued to certain units. So as bad as his past is even the military has forgave him of his poor choices in marketing his knives. Geez I didn't realize there were so many perfect people in the world and don't have any skeletons in there closets.

I think if Uncle Sam himself can forgive it we all should too and stop beating a dead horse. The knives just work for there intended purposes or else they would have been out of business along time ago.

the part where the owners are unrepentant liars even after being exposed as frauds is a problem.

way too many decent companies out there to give a dime to such low people.

My experience with newer Strider product have been rather great. Their knife have better fit and finish than most people said.

I see why Strider have a large group of fanboy... Their folder have very unique/innovation design with simple construction and yet strong as their intended purpose.. they also use decent steel with Peter Heat treat!

The down side of their product is the price (yeah..) and you got 3.25 cutting edge for 9" folder... oh wait their wrapped prybar do look quite useless too

But all in all, what really put me down from this brand is the infamous history of Strider owner, Micky Douch Burgur. I prefer to support a honorable guy over the shitbag one.

Mick didn't lie about not paying taxs or any thing small...That lying douchbag said he Was A American Hero ...That lye goes to the heart of what makes Us Free...The lying Scumbag should Be in Jail !!

The difference is I don't hide anything about my past. My convictions (literally) are for public display.

I posted my DD214 as well ... several years back, someone questioned my service as a combat infantryman.

You're lucky you weren't sentenced to special operations duty in somalia!

That Somalia bit makes me feel sorry for old mick and anyone who believed him. What a crock. He must have been burning the midnight oil.
