My new Izula II handle

Here is a photo of the top, PHYX. I put it in the sheath to give you some reference.

Sexy new handles, I made the awesome mistake of trying to dye my izzy 2 handles, and then found out the hard way that those spacers do come off =/ but I got taken care of.

So I guess I'm the only one willing to ask.

Why did the original scales look like that? It seems to me that you actually should take your scales off to clean them if something like that is going to happen if you don't.

I don't know! I agree, taking them off would probably be best, but then you run into the lost/stripped hardware issues that prompted the recent thread I mentioned. I would have linked to it, but I'm not sure how to do that. Here is the address.

I thought they were on there tight enough to keep blood out but certainly did not expect to see the scales in that condition. I was told it was the repeated washing and soaking in hot water that did it. I always soak and wash my knives in dish soap and hot water to clean them. Oops. It's fixed now though.

wow for a first time making, I am impressed. it makes me want to do that with my izula. I really like wood handles on things (buck 110) It just makes them look classy regardless of how scary the blade is.

thanks for the pic rook! looks fantastic. and not too thick :D

Nice job:thumbup:, I love micarta scales on big chopper knife because they help absorb the shock and make the knife less slippery, but I prefer G10 on a small knife so that the juice, blood or my sweat won't adsorb into the handle. So here is my Izula scales I made

The Izula 2 is the king of small work knives. Great job on the handles. That is very impressive for a first set of handles, well done.
